Panaji, Sep 12: Utt Goenkara spokesman Aires Rodrigues has on Thursday September 11, lodged a first information report (FIR) at the Panaji police station against Goa's education minister Babush Monseratte.
Rodrigues has in the FIR, stated that Monseratte during the Assembly elections held in May last year, had filed a false affidavit, declaring that his educational qualification was SSC from St Theresa's High School Bandra, Mumbai, fully aware of the fact that he had only passed the seventh standard.
Rodrigues has pointed out, that the above statement made in the affidavit was false and incorrect as a letter received from the headmaster of the school states, that Monseratte was admitted to St Theresa's High School, Bandra on June 19 1975 into the sixth standard, and that he had dropped out of the school mid-way through, on September 7, 1978 while in the eighth standard.
Rodrigues has also informed the police that Monseratte had made a signed statement to the secretary of the Goa legislative assembly to the effect that he had passed second year BA degree course and that this information was subsequently published on the website of the Goa legislative assembly.
Rodrigues has further added that Monseratte though legally bound to state only the actual facts on oath in an affidavit, made an incorrect statement therein, knowing fully well that it was a false information, thus misleading the assembly secretary.
Rodrigues has stressed, that Monseratte had committed offences punishable under Sections 171 (G), 181 and 199 of the Indian Penal Code.
He has called upon the Panaji police to take further action including obtaining orders from a Magistrate under 155 (2) of Criminal Procedure Code for investigating the case and charge sheeting Monseratte in accordance with law.
