10.15 pm: BJP leader and former CM B S Yeddyurappa slams Kumaraswamy for holding his first press meet as the new CM without deputy CM Dr Parameshwara speaking.
"Mr. CM, in the very first press conference of your coalition govt, you did not allow your partner Dy CM G. Parameshwara to utter a single word. This only shows that you do not have faith in your coalition partner. What can the people expect from such an unholy alliance?" Yeddyrappa tweeted.
10 pm: Kumaraswamy meets JD(S) MLAs for dinner. Thanks them for being united and apologises for keeping them in hotels and resorts over the past one week.
7.30 pm: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulates new Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and deputy CM Dr Parameshwara and wishes them the best. "I congratulate Shri @hd_kumaraswamy Ji and @DrParameshwara Ji on taking oath as Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka. My best wishes for their tenure ahead," he tweeted.
In return, chief minister H D Kumaraswamy thanks PM Narendra Modi for the wishes: "My heartfelt thanks to you PM @narendramodi ji for the wishes. I have full faith in our federal system and I am there with you on all development-oriented issues. I also seek your full cooperation in developing Karnataka into a model state."

2.50 pm: Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, Congress leader and trouble-shooter D K Shivakumar rubbished reports that he was unhappy about not being given the deputy CM's post. "No one is unhappy. We are celebrating that our government is coming in power. I never said that I am an aspirant for the chief minister or the deputy chief minister post. All is well," he said.
2.49 pm: Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan, who had earlier said he may skip the ceremony as he had to visit Tuticorin where violence erupted during anti-Sterlite protests, is now on his way to Bengaluru after visiting Tuticorin.
2.40 pm: Heavy rain in Bengaluru threatens to hamper swearing-in ceremony. Most JD(S) and Congress workers who had gathered at the Vidhana Soudha ahead of the ceremony run for cover, while some celebrate in the rain.
2.35 pm: Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee told reporters, "Jo hamse takrayega, chur chur ho jayega (Whoever dares to fight with us will be decimated)." She also said the swearing-in is an important event for democracy and an opportunity to strengthen regional parties.
2.30 pm: With two hours to go for H D Kumaraswamy's swearing-in as chief minister and Dr Parameshwara's as deputy chief minister, prominent leaders from across the country have arrived in Bengaluru to witness the cermeony.
Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who arrived on Wednesday afternoon extended his solidarity for a grand opposition alongwith West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee. Speaking to reporters, Naidu said, "In the future, we will work together (with Congress-JDS) to promote national interest. We are here to strengthen all regional parties."
Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, CPI(M) leader Sitharam Yechury, Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi are also in the city. Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi were received at the airport by former chief minister Siddaramaiah.
