Bengaluru: Protesting diesel price hike, truckers to go on indefinite strike from June 18

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, May 26: President of All India Confederation of Goods Vehicle Owners Associations, B Channareddy, said that the truck owners will begin indefinite strike from June 18, protesting against hike in petrol and diesel prices, increase in third party policy premium rates and in support of a number of other demands.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday May 25, Channareddy noted that diesel price has been going up every day. He blamed the central government for affecting this hike since the last some years. "Since 2002, third party insurance premium is also going up steadily. This increase of this premium now stands at 1117 percent. Our repeated requests to contain this increase have fallen on deaf years. Therefore we have decided to protest," he explained.

Channareddy said that if their demands are not met by June 18, indefinite strike will be undertaken from midnight that day all over the country, as a result of which all kinds of goods transport vehicles will stop plying. He accused the central government of not addressing problems like toll charges and taking unilateral decisions. He also blamed the government for allowing private companies to conduct third party insurance business which has been creating problems.

"About 80 percent of truck owners own one or two vehicles and they are facing problems in repaying loans raised from banks. They are not even able to cover diesel cost out of hire charges. Therefore, we demand immediate action failing which protest will be held," he warned.

Among those who played pivotal roles in pushing the BJP’s agenda to demonise the Congress party ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls were celebrities from Bollywood and literature. They did so either to safeguard their future financial dealings or purely for their ideological similarities.

Among those who were seen being vocal about the then UPA government were Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Vivek Agnihotri, Anupam Kher and Ashoke Pandit. Agnihotri, Kher and Pandit have been known for their support to the rightwing Hindutva ideology. Kumar and Bachchan’s role in pushing the BJP’s agenda bewildered many.

One of the topics that these celebrities often embarrassed the then UPA government headed by Manmohan Singh was the rising price of diesel and petrol in India. This despite the fact that crude oil price in international market was at an all time high, around $140 per barrel.

Amitabh Bachchan had famously tweeted, “Ptrol up Rs 75: Pump attendant- Kitne ka doon? Mumbaikar- ‘2-4 rupye ka car ke upar spray kar de bhai, jalana hai.”

Another famous tweet by Bachchan had read T 756 -“Lord Ram told Sita that an era will come when people will buy (expensive) cars with cash but will have to obtain bank loans to buy petrol.”

An otherwise apolitical Akshay Kumar too was quick to throw his weight behind the fake BJP narrative. His one tweet (now deleted) had read, “Guys, I think it’s time to clean up your bicycles and hit the road! As per sources, expecting another petrol price hike.”

“Modi’s luck runs out and old tweets haunt Bollywood’s Modi Bhakts!”. Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar who own private jet fell ‘deaf and dumb’ for silence and deleting old tweets on petrol and diesel prices.
Now, another old video of Ramdev campaigning from a TV studio in favour of BJP has gone viral. In the video, recorded as part of India TV Aap Ki Adalat show, Ramdev is seen addressing the audience members while asking them to choose between a party & BJP.

THERE SHOULD BE IMMIDIATE PROTEST THROUGHOUT INDIA FOR PETROL DISEL HIKE .
EACH ND EVERY INDIVIDUAL IS PAYING GST WHY PETROL DIESEL IS NOT INCLUDED IN GST ????????????????????????WHY WE ARE PAYING MORE THAN 70% TAX TO PETROL PRODUCTS BUT UNDER GST INDIAN TAX MAXIMUM GST IS 28% +CESS. SO PETROL EUM PRODUCT U CAN EXPECT 50% LESS RATE .EVERYBODY CAN SAVE THEIR MONEY, THIS IS THE RIGHT OF EVERY INDIAN . WHY CAN'T BRING UNDER GST???THIS IS CALLED COMMISSION GAME WITH OIL MAFIAS.RSS LED BJP GOVT IS INTERESTED IN ACCUMLATING BLACK MONEY FOR 2019 ELECTION NOT INTERESTED IN PUBLIC WELFARE. GST SHOULD BE IMPLEMINTED IN ALL PETROLEUM PRODUCTS IMMIDIATELY??? EACH AND EVRY PERSON WILL BE BENIFITTED.
