Bahrain, May 26: Konkani Kutam Bahrain and Konkan Singers Club hosted the audition rounds of ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 6’ (GVOM) on May 18 at Karnataka Social Club, Bahrain.
The auditions began with the lots for the singing sequence. Konkani Kutam Bahrain convenor Henry D’Almeida extended a warm welcome to the audience and contestants and addressed the gathering.
Judges for the day’s competition were singer par excellence Adolf Jayathilak, Meera Crasta and musician and keyboard maestro Sanjay Rodrigues all from Mangaluru. The judges were introduced by Bertram Rego and presented flower bouquets.
The GVOM Season 6 Bahrain coordinator Steven D’Souza handed over the mark sheets to the judges. Bertram Rego briefed the audience and contestants about the competition rules, format and judging criteria.
The competitions were held separately for male and female contestants. The numbering sequence was decided by taking lots in the presence of audience. The female singers were chosen to sing first followed by the male singers. Ronald Fernandes rendered the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Bertram Rego. Ruben D’Souza captured the event with his photography. Al Sibinsa Trading Services provided the sound system.
Altogether, there were 18 contestants participating at the preliminary auditions. Names of the contestants, who qualified for the Bahrain semi-final round of Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 6, are follows (badge number wise):

The selected 12 singers from the preliminary rounds will be competing in the semi-finals which will be held on September 28.
The winner from both male and female categories will compete at the grand finale to be held in Kuwait for the coveted title on November 9 along with ten other contestants from Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
