Karnataka offers 1,000 acres of land to Tata

BANGALORE, Sep 18: Amid uncertainty over Tatas' Nano project in West Bengal, Karnataka government on Thursday offered 1,000 acres of land in case the company decides to relocate its Nano car project.

After meeting the Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, Tata Motors Managing Director G Ravikanth told reporters that "he (Yeddyurappa) said he will give all support, assistance and required incentives if we want it (in case of re-locating the plant).

"The project requires about 1,000 acres of land. It is an integrated project," Ravikanth said.

Asked if Karnataka government has offered 1,000 acres of land, he said "yes" and added "if we have to have the project it requires 1,000 acres."

To another query whether Tata Motors was looking at re-locating the plant, he said, "We are considering alternatives if required," indicating that a final decision to pull out from West Bengal in the wake of land allotment row was yet to be taken.

Tata Motors has a manufacturing facility at Dharwad in the north Karnataka region, where it produces buses and tractors.

Soon after Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata announced that he was not averse to shift the Nano car project from West Bengal, other states, including Karnataka, Punjab and Haryana invited the company.

TATA Sir, you are a great man, and you have a genuine feeling for us poor Indians, but sir, please don't bring your NANO project to Karnataka, cause you may not face any trouble from the kannadigas, but you'll be tortured by the Bajrangis, so sir please stay away from this place.

I hope CM has readymade 1000 acres of his personal property or he should give IT hub to TaTa nano. What is the point in giving developed place to Industry and destroying it. It would be very nice if TaTa takes places like Gulbarga, Kolar or Thar desert and develops them.

Mr.Ratan Tata, Please keep away from BJP ruled Karnataka. Once you setup your factory the so called senas will form a workers union and eat you up from within as is going on now in India. Best advice is say tata and bye bye to Karnataka and try to solve the issues amicably in West Bengal.

Hurray Mr. CM! Forget food, shelter and basic security, thanks to you everyone in Karnataka will be able to own a car. The next election slogan could very well be “A Nano for all by 2020!” And, don’t you fret sons and daughters of the soil, if you get lucky, your compensation package might even include a set of four wheels!

Mr. Chief Minister, you cannot take care of law and order cituation in your state. Your bajrangis target minorities and innocent people and your officials beat women and children in public. How the Tatas can expect you to assist them in their project ?
