Mysuru, Jun 24: A first information report (FIR) was registered against former chief minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, and three others, relating to the disposal of Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land and purchase case. The FIR was lodged in Lakshmipuram police station here.
When Siddaramaiah was the deputy chief minister of the state in 1997, this incident reportedly happened. An RTI activist, Gangaraju, had filed application in the city civil judge (second division) court here, accusing Siddaramaiah and others of having committed irregularities in the said case. He had said that Siddaramaiah along with the then chairman of MUDA and officials were involved with this case. The concerned have been charged with illegal acquisition of property, creation of fake documents, treachery and showing disregard to laws in spite of being government servants, under different sections of Indian Penal Code.
The court, which heard the petition, had instructed the police to register FIR against former chief minister Siddaramaiah, former chairman of Mysore Urban Development Authority, C Basave Gowda, D Dhruvakumar and current commissioner, P S Kantharaju, on June 18.
As per the FIR, a ten gunta land belonging to Sakamma, wife of Sanne Gowda in Hinakal village in the city had been bought by Siddaramaiah on December 5, 1997. With the connivance of the then MUDA chairman and officials, a house was built in farm land against rules. This house was later sold on September 29, 2003 for rupees one crore rupees, H Gangadhar has complained.
The government had acquired 535 acres of land in Hinakal gram panchayat for setting up Vijayanagara second phase extension. After sites were allotted, the then president of Hinakal gram panchayat, Papanna, had applied to MUDA in1998 when Siddaramaiah was the deputy chief minister, seeking denotification of 30 gunta land held in the names of his aunt, Sakamma, brother, Annayya, and wife, Sunanda. Even after the extension was created, the officials had denotified 30 guntas of land and issued no objection certificate. Out of this, ten gunta land which was not converted, was bought by Siddaramaiah on which a house was built. The complainant has alleged that by encroaching the neighbouring land, a house measuring 1208.5 sq ft had been built which was later sold. Sakamma was given alternative site by MUDA then. In December 2017, Sakamma's family again applied for site, which was upheld by MUDA chairman, D Dhruvakumar. He had moved the application in the general body meeting and got approval to issue the said site. Although Sakamma was already issued an alternative site, the meeting had taken decision to issue her site again in contravention of rules.
