Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (EP)

Puttur, Jun 30: Amid the incessant rains in the district over the past many days, locals here on Friday June 29 night witnessed a new phenomenon when rain dust lashed Bettampady in the taluk.

People who witnessed the phenomenon falling from the sky reportedly grew afraid of the sudden rain of dust. It is said that the smell of dust was penetrated the atmosphere.

The rain dust lasted from 8 pm to about 10 pm, locals said.

Rain dust, traditionally known as muddy rain or coloured rain, is a variety of rain that contains enough dust for it to be visible without using a microscope. Rain dust is common in the western and southern Mediterranean, and is said to be highly alkaline in composition.
