Heritage City of Mysore Gears-up for Colorful Dasara

Mysore, Sep 29: The heritage city of Mysore is gearing up for Dasara festivities that will commence tomorrow.
The BJP Government has decided to celebrate Dasara this year as Nada Habba in a grand manner and is spending Rs. 10 crore on developmental works connected with the festivities.
The officials of various departments including the City Corporation, MUDA and Tourism Department are giving finishing touches to the preparations which have been going on at a hectic pace since one month.
Centenarian Seer Sri Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddhaganga Mutt will inaugurate Dasara festivities atop Chamundi Hill by offering puja to Goddess Chamundeswari between 10.48 am and 11.16 am in Vrishchika lagna. Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will be present along with his Cabinet colleagues.
The Mysore Palace will be illuminated in a spectacular manner and the foreground of the Palace has already been paved with interlocking tiles thus putting an end to the clouds of dust raised in the past years as a result of thousands of visitors gathering at the Palace.
The northern entrance of the Palace, Old Statue Square, K.R. Circle, New Sayyaji Rao Road, Bamboo Bazaar Road, Chamundi Hill Road, Irwin Road, roads surrounding the Palace and other roads have been asphalted specially for Dasara.
The Government has taken up footpath renovation and paving work for the first time, wherein the footpaths are paved with interlocking tiles.
Many roads including Sayyaji Rao Road, K.R. Circle, D. Devaraja Urs Road, Irwin Road, JLB Road, Ashoka Road, Lalitha Mahal Road, Chamundi Hill Road, in addition to various Circles have been illuminated.
The Town Hall, Jaganmohan Palace, K.R. Hospital, Ayurveda College, DC's Office, the Courts, Zilla Panchayat office, Mysore University, CADA Office, Sanskrit College and other heritage buildings have been specially decorated.
The statues of Krishnaraja Wadiyar and Jayachamaraja Wadiyar have been given a fresh coat of paint with more attractive illumination.
Colourful flags bearing the Dasara logo have been put up at Millennium Circle, Highway Circle, Bamboo Bazar Road, old RMC Circle and other prominent Circles to make the Dasara more colourful and attract the tourists.
Special illumination has been made at Chamundi Hill too and the traditional Suswagatha display has been made all the more attractive this time.
The Chamundi Hill too has been gloriously decorated and the Mahishasura statue has been given a facelift.
Parks
Prominent parks in the city including Curzon Park, Kuppanna Park have been cleaned up.
Tight Security
Security has been beefed up in the city to tackle terror threat during the festivities. More than 4,000 additional policemen have been deployed for the purpose and CCTV cameras have been installed at key points. The bomb detection squads too have been deployed as a precautionary measure.
Flags, flex boards and other publicity materials have been displayed at Mysore, Mandya and Bangalore cities.
The preparations for sports, cultural programmes, poets meet, Yuva Dasara, film festival sound and light, Raitha Dasara, procession, air show and other programmes have been almost completed, authorities claim.
