UAE : Christians Submit Memorandum with 80,000 signatures

Media Release

Dubai, Sep 30: The unity of the Christians is most visible when their brethren are persecuted in any part of the world. UAE is not an exception to this. The parishioners of various Catholic churches in the UAE rose up to the occasion to express their pain and grievances and to feel one with the alleviated Christians in Orissa, Karnataka particularly Mangalore and other parts of South India through the Signature Campaign.

It is a mighty achievement and indeed a Herculean task to gather over 40,000 signatures  from Dubai church alone, followed by Jebel Ali - St. Francis of Assisi Church, Sharjah - St. Michael's church and Abu Dhabi St. Joseph's church,  over 80,000 in all. This large hearted support  conveys only one message that we Christians are deeply hurt and are ONE and continue to remain as ONE.

A delegation of Parishioners headed by Hilary Da Veiga, Oswald Tauro, Joe Fernandes and Ronald D'Cunha from the St. Mary's Church Dubai, Lloyd Rego from  St. Francis of Assisi Church, Jebel Ali,  Vijay from  St. Michael's Church, Sharjah,  Oswald Martis, David D'Souza and Conrad D'Souza from  St. Joseph's Church, Abu Dhabi proceeded to the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and  handed over the Memorandum together with well bound 80,000 signatures to be forwarded to the President  and  Prime Minister of India. Similar two more sets were also handed over to be forwarded to the Home Minister of the Centre and to the Governor of the state of Karnataka.

The Vicar Apostolic of Arabia Bishop Paul Hinder O.F.M. Cap. in his message to the President of  India,  conveyed the feelings of the Indian Christians in the UAE and appealed the Religious leaders and Civil Authorities to work together to re-establish among the members of the various communities, the peaceful coexistence and harmony that have always been a hallmark of  Indian society.

I really appreciated all the hard work our fellow Christians did by collecting these signatures, I would kindly request them to also forward these signatures to the EC (European Countries President) American President, and all of the world forums , Human rights , and also collect singnatures in India and forwarded every inportant places . One important thing is we christians have to file a criminal case against these goondas who were taking the pride of their action on the live TV broad cast... At least now our Christian institues must make sure that our Christian children get free , scholar ship in all our Collages and stop asking donation from them our own Priests and Sisters from Collages are like demens greedy they dont care for our childrens they want is only money they announce in the Churches for donations for building these instituions and then kick us stright on our face at the time of our kids needs please lets bring sense in our own like other communities do..

Hats off to you and your team for the signature campaign. Further we gulf people should know who are fanatics. Is our hard earned money is in the hands of fanatics or in their banks. We should educate our non christian brothers that we are peace loving people and a few fanatics what they do is spoiling the reputation of their entire community before the whole world. At the same time the gulf money and people have the authority and control over the economy of India and especially in Karnataka and Mangalore. Encourage Young blood to take active leadership in politics by choosing right candidates with able seniors guidance with a vision of future of whole christian community in India and especially in Mangalore

The faithful in Dubai should be thanked for the great job done at St. Mary's Church in getting 80,000 signatures. What's important is how does one stop this act never to wound or harm the Church again. They have dug deep into our hearts to what took place in Manglore, the pictures on National TV was shockening to see.Margret Alva did a tremendous job by visiting all the sites that were stained by the guilty, Sure her report to Dr. Manmohan Sigh will bear some fruit. Let me admit that lets keep Sonia out of this as this will only add more fuel to the fire. One word from her the opposition will say that Sonia is trying conversions which is not so and we all know the very fact of it.

The Bishop did a tremendous job a fitting reply to the CM.Let me sum up friends that the Arm's Of Christ are very strong he has kept us all united in One Body and that violence of any sort is not going to be his answer to these senseless few that carry out such acts for as Christ has said " FORGIVE THEM FOR THEY NO KNOW WHAT THEY DO" GOD BLESS

A very good effort by the Mangalorean Catholics. When our brothers and sisters in Orissa and elsewhere were attacked, killed, and displaced, we will not keep quite. Also, when our churches and prayer halls were attacked, we will protest peacefully and show our solidarity. Long live our Christian unity. God is always with us. We will surely win.

I appreciate your sincere efforts to restore peace in karnataka specially among christians and all the members of the society. It is not good development to fight with in a family. We are all members of Karnataka so as to say of India. If we fight with in our home, we ruin our home.Enemy will have easy access to our home.Any wise person will never instigate fight with in the home.As a member of India Family you are very much concerned. We should be ashamed about what we did.
