Won’t deport preacher Zakir Naik to India, says Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohamad

New Delhi, Jul 6 (NIE): Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said Friday that controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik will not be deported to India. Addressing a press conference, Mohamad said Naik would not be sent back as long as he was not creating any problem in the country, reported news agency AFP.

Zakir, who is the founder of the Islamic Research Foundation (IRF), left India in 2016 for Malaysia, where he was granted permanent residency. He is wanted in India for allegedly conducted terror-related activities and hate speech.

“As long as he is not creating any problem, we will not deport him because he has been given permanent residency status,” Mahathir was quoted as saying by AFP.

India has made a formal request for the extradition of Naik. India’s Ministry of External Affairs said Thursday the country’s request is under ‘active consideration’.

Meanwhile, MoS Home Hansraj Ahir has responded to the Malayasian PM’s statement saying Naik will not be spared. As per ANI, he said, “Maybe not now but eventually he will be arrested and brought to justice, he will not be spared.”

Earlier this week, Naik denied reports that he was returning to India, calling them “totally baseless and false”.

In a statement, he said, “The news of my coming to India is totally baseless and false. I have no plans to come to India till I don’t feel safe from unfair prosecution. Insha Allah when I feel that the government will be just and fair, I will surely return to my homeland.”

"Zakir Naik will not be deported to India. Addressing a press conference, Mohamad said Naik would not be sent back as long as he was not creating any problem in the country" - So long as he is NOT creating problems in Malaysia he could stay ?????

In one of his you tube videos he clearly states that if bin Laden is terrorising the citizens of the US (apparently referring to the attacks on the WTC where 3000 people died) Zakir gives the thumps up and says, "I am with him, every Muslim should be a terrorist". So he could set the world on fire, he could encourage, abet and fund violence in the land of his birth and elsewhere with innocent people like you and me dying, they are okay with it. Create strife in foreign countries - NO PROBLEM, but do not create problems in Malaysia.

Reminds me of what the then US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton said about Pakistan. "You'll are raising so many snakes in your back yard with a hope that those snakes will bite only your neighbours is a very grave folly"

We don't wish bad things happening to anyone, but "If you live by the sword then you will die by the sword". I know many of his cohort that are living in our midst will not agree with me and will pounce on the disagree button.

With present govt in India any place outside India is better than India. Even Modi's close buddies like Lalit Modi, Nirav Modi, VijayMallya, Chowksi are also of the same opinion. In fact even Modi doesn't stay in India more than 3 months.

Cheddi government trying max to get Dr. Zakir naik back, but I'm vain.
So much effort. But this govt doesn't bother to get fugitives like modi's, mallya back to India who looted India. Betrayed citizens of india.
This shows true color of cheddi groups.
Zakir naik is accused by India govt just cz Bangladeshi terrorist was a fan of him.
If that terrorist was a fan of a celebrity or fan of a politicians, will they accuse that celebrity or politician as criminal.
Nirav modi was seen standing with narendra modi in a photo session at Davos. Y it was not condemned.
Just because zakir naik comes from minority community, hez being tortured and accused.

Its funny how Indian governance judiciary system works.Thereare so many criminal case pending but still spending on mr.Naik is waste of tax money.

Dev ur childish to understand diplomacy. Malasyian PM statement was diplomatic to say "He will not deport Zakir Naik as long as he creates not any problem"

PM very well know that Zakir Naik is not a problematic personality to have millions of followers and to preach in Malaysia since 2 decades. So he will never be deported.

So PM silenced our Sanghi Government and Media with his diplomatic answer. He is Mahathir Mohamad who ruled Malaysia for 22 years not any boot licker of any country to bow down. He is 92 but very wise and healthy. We at his age even if alive will not be remembering ourselves, but he is leading his country. Bravo

No matter how hard this Sanghi government and bikaaw media try their effort with fabrication but in the end truth will prevail as world dont dance to the tune of Sanghis.
