Catholics from Bahrain Join Petition Along With the Signature Campaign

Bahrain, Oct 1: Thousands of Catholics from Bahrain joined in solidarity with Indian Catholic community on the latest attacks by miscreants on Christians in India particularly in Orissa and Karnataka. 

Fr. Thomas Quadros, Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church in the Kingdom of Bahrain submitted the petition along with the signatures of the representatives of Bahrain’s Catholic community to Indian Ambassador, H.E. Balakrishna Shetty.  He was accompanied by the following members:

Hillary Tellis
Fredrick D’Souza
Ronald D.F. D’Souza
 

Approximately 3200 signatures were collected representing the Indian Catholic community in Bahrain.




 

During the meeting with the Ambassador, Fr. Quadros expressed his deep sorrow regarding the damage done to various churches in Orissa and Karnataka, especially to the Adoration Monastery in Mangalore.  The ambassador heard the grievances of the people present and said that he had seen the detailed report about the attacks in Daijiworld.com and was very saddened by the incidents.  He assured that all the 7 packets containing the petition with signatures will be forwarded to the Government of India as follows:


The President of India
The Prime Minister of India
The Home Minister
Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of UPA
The Governor of Karnataka
The Chief Minister of Karnataka
The Chief Minister of Orissa  

In spite of his busy schedule, the Ambassador spent more than an hour listening to the grievances of Catholic delegation.  

The delegation thanked the ambassador for his valuable time and appreciated his continued support in every respect.

      H.E. Balakrishna Shetty the Indian Ambassador in Bahrain is a very pro active envoy always using his high office to benefit the Indian Community. Besides he is also popular with the Mangalorean community. Best wishes to Mr.Shetty
