Children’s Yakshagana Troupe From Manipal in Metro

The Badagatittu style of Yakshagana by the children’s touring troupe of Balamitra Yakshagana Kala Mandal, Saralebettu, Manipal, was inaugurated on Monday October 13, at the branch unit of the Pejavar Math, located in Santa Cruz (East).
 
Litterateur and Yakshagana philanthropist Dr Sanjeev K Shetty inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Yakshagana artistes Kamalaksha Prabhu, Sadanand Aithal, Kondadakuli Ramachandra Hedge, Dayanand Prabhu, Sundar Acharya, G T Acharya, S K Sundar, Prakash Acharya Ramakunja, and Ramesh Birti, were present on the occasion.
 


The children staged the mythological ‘Haribhakta Sudhanva Yakshagana’ for their first performance that was sponsored by the Karnataka Vishwakarma Association of the metro.
 
The last performance by the troupe will be held at Bunts’ Bhavan, in Kurla (East), on Tuesday October 21. There will be daily shows of various mythological episodes including ‘Lavakusha Kalaga’, `Veerabhimanyu’,  ‘Dushyasana Vadhe’, and ‘Veera Vrasha Sena’, informed the organizers.
