M'lore: Christian Community Celebrates Dasara Stressing Need for Religious Harmony

Mangalore, Oct 15: Mangalorean Christians under the leadership of the Chair in Christianity of Mangalore University, Federation of Karnataka Christian Associations, Sisters from Bethany Congregation, and Konkani Yuva Awaz, celebrated Dasara at Lalbagh opposite the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) office, recently.
The Dasara procession organized by Sri Gokarnatheswara Temple, which passed through Lalbagh was greeted by the Christian community people with lit candles and traditional puja articles.
Priests, nuns, intellectuals of the Christian community and youth led by Konkani Yuva Awaz participated in large numbers. Fr John Fernandes, head, Chair in Christianity, Sr Wilberta, assistant general, Bethany Congregation, Sr Joy, general secretary, Bethany Educational Society, Sr Annceline, counselor to the general, Sr Prema, co-ordinator, ‘Sahodaya’, Denis D’Silva, convenor, Federation of Karnataka Christian Associations, Santosh D’Costa, vice-president, Konkani Yuva Awaz, Gretta Rebello, corporator, and Meera Lewis, greeted the architect of Mangalore Dasara Janardhana Poojary and other Hindu leaders on the occasion.
