Mumbai, Oct 15: The Muhurat and clapping for the film, 'Ek Thi Rani Aisi Bhi,' being  produced by Rajmata Vijayaraje Sindhia Memorial Trust, was held at Sri Narayan Guru Auditorium of Billava Bhavan in Santa-Cruz (East) on the evening of Tuesday October 14.

The Muhurat was performed by BJP Leader Sushma Swaraj. The cast of the film has Hema Malini and Vinod Khanna donning the roles of Vijayaraje and Jivajirao Sindhia respectively, with Sachin Khedekar playing Sardar Bal Angre.

The film is based on the life of Rajmata Vijayaraje Sindhia, the dynamic queen of Gwalior, based on the autobiography written and edited work by eminent writer Mridula Sinha, titled 'Rajpat Se Lokpat Par,' in the form of an autobiography.

The film is aimed at depicting a clear picture of the life and achievements of Maharani Vijayaraje and Maharaja Jivajirao as its central characters. The story begins at the crucial juncture of attaining indepence by the country and the merger of the princely states with the union.


 

The story moves over to the beginning of Vijayaraje's political career, the death of her husband, her protest against the autocratic style of functioning of the government, her emergence as an opposition leader, her arrest during the emergency in the year 1975, till her dream coming true in 1996.

Six national and two international award-winning director Gul Bahar Singh believes, that this will prove to be yet another classic that would strike the right chords in the minds of the sensible audience and throw light on some interesting periods and events that have never made it to the Indian silver-screen so far.

National chief secretary the BJP Gopinat Munde, chief minister of Rajastan Vasundhara Raje Sindhia, senior leader of BJP Jayanti Ben Mehta, Yashodhara Raje Sindhia, Mumbai regional president of BJP Gopal C Shetty, L V Amin, president of Sindhia Memorial Trust Mridula Sinha, film director Gul Bahar Singh, former MLA Atul Shah, film stars Hema Malini and Vinod Khanna were present on the occasion.

Along with them, former union minister Rama Naik, BJP leaders Mahesh Sharma, Aditya Pande, Sardar Tara Singh, Raj Puranik, Poonam Mahajan, Delhi mayor Arati Mehra, Kiran Maheshwar, Suresh V Goyal, Maya Singh and Priya Mane were present at the function.

On this occasion, members of the Billava Union womens' wing traditionally welcomed the dignitaries. Later, they paid floral tributes to the statue of Sri Narayana Guru and Koti Chennaya.

Vice- president of the Association Y Nagesh, M B Kuckiyan, V R Kotian, general secretary Nityananda D Kotian, treasurer Bhaskar V Bangera, president of Women's Wing Jayanti V Ullal and vice- president Shrimati S Poojary were present.
