Madikeri, Sep 3: A student, who lost her tresses on account of mistake on the part of a beauty parlour, went into depression and ended her life. The deceased was Neha Gangamma (19), daughter of Gandamgada Prabhu Pemmaiah from Balele Kottageri in Virajpet taluk in Kodagu district.

Neha had gone missing from Mysuru where she was studying. Her body was found from Lalxmanateertha rivulet near Nittoor within the limits of Ponnampet police station in Virajpet taluk here.

It is learnt that Neha, whose hair was curly, had got her hair straightened through a beauty parlour at Mysuru. However, this treatment had given rise to allergic reaction in her. The allergy caused hair fall. Overtaken by tension, she had come home and narrated her fear to her parents. She also had remained stubborn on not attending college this year as she wanted to wait till next year to allow her hair to grow back again. But her parents had succeeded in convincing her to resume education at Mysuru.

On August 28, Neha had left her paying guest accommodation on the pretext of attending college. But she did not come back in the evening. Therefore, owner of the paying guest accommodation, Cariappa, had complained to Jayalaxmipuram police station. Parents of Neha turned tense on getting this information. Her friends and villagers went to various places in search of her but failed to get any clue about her whereabouts. On Saturday September 1, her body was found from Laxmanateertha rivulet.

Neha'sl father said in his complaint filed in Ponnampet police station that the personnel at the beauty parlour who treated his daughter's hair were responsible for her demise.
