Bangalore, Oct 25: It was an evening of music in all its splendour. Alpha and Omega, a choral concert as part of the Bi-centennial celebrations of St Mark’s Cathedral was held recently in Bangalore at the Bishop Cottons Boys’ School Auditorium.
200 glorious years and St Mark’s Cathedral remains to be an important landmark in the heart of the city. Various events were held throughout the year in celebration of the occasion. Alpha and Omega was one of them.
The evening saw the renditions of famous praise and worship numbers by all in-house choirs who had worked towards this event during the last six months.
The main feature of the event was the St Mark’s Cathedral Mass Choir- a 200-voice choir all belonging to the Cathedral. All age groups starting from three to seventy three put their voices together to make a memorable concert.
Some of the choirs that performed were the St Mark’s Cathedral choir conducted by Sukirtan Das, Exodus, an ensemble conducted by Rajan John and the Cathedral’s children’s choir trained under Reji Chandy.
The children’s choir definitely stole the show and was given a standing ovation by the audience. From tiny tots to teenagers, they sang and danced to familiar medleys.
Also performing at the concert were the Mark’s men – an all men’s choir and the St Mark’s Praise and Worship team.
The evening ended with the final blessing of Bishop Vasanth Kumar of the Church of South India (CSI).
