Mangaluru, Sep 29: A two-day exhibition of Rosaries and Konkani Marian literature was inaugurated on Saturday, September 29 at Milagres Jubilee hall.

Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D Souza, Bishop Emeritus inaugurated the exhibition by flashing colours on the portrait of Immaculate Heart of Mary drawn on the spot by famous Indian artist Shabari Ganiga.

“As mother never abandons her child during problems, similarly Mother Mary always guides us when we our facing problems. Praying with rosary has helped me to resolve various official issues,” said former MLA JR Lobo delivering the inaugural address.

He regretted that the present generation is not praying rosary in the families and as a result their faith has become shallow. “This exhibition must inspire people to pray the rosary together with their families,” he added.

He appreciated Sabhu Kaithar who has maintained a collection of more than 60,000 rosaries, crosses and statues of Mary. He was overwhelmed with drawing of Mother Mary by Shabari and said unless and until one contemplates on Mother Mary, one cannot draw such a master piece.

Bishop Emeritus in his presidential address quoted St John Paul II and his devotion to Mother Mary which is an inspiration to us. “Praying Rosary saves us as it saved St John Paul. Contemplate the face of Jesus by reciting the mysteries of Rosary. Marian literature that is exhibited in the venue reminds how spiritual literature helps us to strengthen the catholic faith said bishop. He congratulated Fr J B Crasta the Rector of Cathedral for organising the year of Rosary in memory of 450 years of the Rosario Cathedral. He congratulated and blessed Shabari Ganiga for her beautiful drawing of Immaculate Heart of Mary.”

This exhibition is open to public on September 29 and 30 2018 from 9 am to 8 pm at Milagres Jubilee hall. Sabhu Kaithar who created Limca Record with his collection of 50,000 rosaries from various countries, with more than 500 statues of Mother Mary and variety of crosses will be exhibiting them at the hall. The gold Rosary, diamond rosary, white gold Rosary and Rosaries used by saints are the centre of attraction of the Rosary exhibition.
