SC refuses to stop deportation of 7 Rohingyas

New Delhi, Oct 4 (IANS): The Supreme Court dismissed on Thursday a plea seeking a stay on the deportation of seven Rohingyas scheduled for later in the day.

These Rohingya refugees had entered India in 2012 and were lodged at a camp in Assam's Silchar.

A bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Sanjay Krishan Kaul and Justice K.M. Joseph dismissed the plea by Prashant Bhushan as the Centre informed that Myanmar has accepted them as their citizens.

Appearing for petitioner Mohammad Salimullah, Bhushan told the bench that it should ask the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) first to interview the refugees to know their wishes -- whether they wanted to go back or not.

As Bhushan said it was the apex court's responsibility to protect their lives, Chief Justice Gogoi said: "You do not have to remind us of our responsibility, we are aware of it."

The Rohingyas are a minority Muslim community from the Rakhine state in Myanmar.

In this case I completely support not only the deportation of 7 but all the Rohingyas and Bangladeshis who are living illegally in India.

OUr country is already overburderned with huge population. Cannot take these people who are not worth for anything as they are uneducated and lack any common sense

Moreover, Bengalis are known for crime even in Dubai, where I lived for 14 long years. They do not get visa now in UAE

Very good move by the SC. Any countries that give shelter to refugees to the 'peace lovers' is doomed. Just look at Europe, the refugees have already started revolting and showing their gratitude by 'attack a weak'.

India is already battling over population and scarcity of resources. Illegal Bangladeshis accounts around 1 crore. And are still crossing border either by foot or taking flights. Obtaining fake Aadhar cards and settling down in India. There must be a comprehensive mechanism to stop this Unlawful invasion of India. Or else this country will remain poor as ever.

    Fully agree with you Sir.
Please check in areas like Bunder and Car street in Mangalore. The gold smiths, the gold dealers, and labours in the jewelry industry is filled Rohingyas.(they claim themselves as Bengalis from Kolkotha).
They get a pan card, then ration card and then voter's ID and even Indian passport. They bring their whole family, buy houses here and settle. I think these are good Rohingyas.
