After BSP, SP rules out alliance with Congress for MP, Rajasthan polls

Lucknow, Oct 7 (DC): The Congress could be in for trouble in both Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan as its move to join hands with the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) to put up a united fight against the ruling BJP has fizzled out.

After the BSP decided earlier this week to go alone in Assembly elections in these two states, it was the Samajwadi Party’s turn on Saturday to dump the Congress.

The Akhilesh Yadav-led party ruled out an alliance with the Congress in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly delaying a deal and failing to show “large-heartedness” in seat-sharing.

The Congress, which had tried to play down the BSP’s snub on October 3, said in New Delhi that it had not been planning an alliance with the SP in Madhya Pradesh.

“The Congress has made us wait long enough. The elections are being announced and we cannot wait any longer. We will, however, talk to the BSP about an alliance in Madhya Pradesh,” said Akhilesh Yadav.

Though the SP has no MLAs in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan and the BSP has four MLAs in MP and three in Rajasthan, their decision to fight the elections without any understanding with the Congress will convert the contest in both the states into a triangular tussle that may benefit the ruling BJP. A united Opposition against the BJP, led by the Congress and complemented by the SP’s appeal to Muslim voters and the BSP’s to dalits, would have given the saffron party nightmares.

During the last Assembly polls in MP, the combined votes polled by both the Congress and the BSP were more than that of the BJP.

The BSP has considerable influence in northern Madhya Pradesh and pockets of Scheduled Castes account for 16 per cent of the state’s population, though, over the past few years the dalit vote bank in the state has shifted to the BJP.

My question to BSP N SP can they share the same seats as demanded by Congress in UP election, if no then they have amicably solve their problem with them . When BSP having only 4 and 3 seats in MP and Rajasthan and SP don’t have single seats how can they claim more seats. These are all they have pressure from center or frighten about IT OR ED rides.

It doesn't matter, which party is ruling or which party comes to power!. Its the people who vote makes the difference, not the Politicians, not the parties. If people fail to question the government with right questions and seek answers firmly, its success for the people. If people make them Gods and fail to question or seek answers/action, everything will fail. End of the day its the people's foresight and vision for themselves and for their generation to come.

This clearly shows the double standard of khangress. Where ever they feel they r strong r they don't want to share the seats with other parties where as where ever they feel they r weak they want to piggy back on the allies and try to get more seats

BSP and SP are insignificant players in MP and Rajasthan and ceding ground to these UP based Parties will not be of any use to INC.

Secondly, As per ABY C-Voter survey, INC is likely to win in Rajasthan and MP.

Ha Ha Ha. Before making some tall claims, please know that Cong exists only in 2 states on its own and the party president has a track record of 33 defeats. Like Siddu , Raul Vinci too is planning to contest in 2 constituencies this time as he may be trounced in Amethi. He has to decide on the religious attire this time as well.

Samajwadi Party does not much of a hold in MP. They've not won any seats. So this decision does not hold any threat to Congress.
However in UP, if the SP-BSP combine does not want to include Congress, then it spells big trouble for the old grand daddy party
