Sr Anupama who protested against tainted Bishop faces wrath

Alappuzha (Kerala), Oct 25 (IANS): Sr Anupama, the nun who was at the forefront of a protest against now tainted and rape accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal was at the receiving end from her colleagues at her own parish on Thursday.

The incident took place when the body of Father Kuriakose Kattuthara, who had given statements against Mulakkal, was brought for the final rites at the St Mary's Forane Church near here.

Kattuthara was found dead in a room at the St. Mary's Church complex in Dasuya town in Punjab. He was under the Jalandhar diocese which is headed by Mulakkal.

Wailing, the nun, Anupama, told the media: "I do not know why my own people in my parish are against me. I know the deceased since my childhood as we both belong to this parish. When I became a nun, I was posted at the Jalandhar diocese where he was also there. He always stood for truth."

While she was speaking to the media, some of her colleagues gathered at the spot and shouted at her and told her to leave.

On Wednesday, the body of Kattuthara was brought home near here. On Thursday evening, it was interned at his family graveyard.

here the miss Anupama is right or wrong is not a question. But she has every right to attned and participate the public funeral programme arranged by Kuriakose family. The protest by rhe parishoner is not in right direction. the church authorities should abstain from petty politics and keep the calue bible because you always teach eternal things. In bible there is solution for all things even the present cisis. so sit all the concerned and settle the issue. miss Anupam going to press is not in a desired level. All the concerned medidate bible and come out with solution

Amidst of many contradictory news, it's very difficult to know the real truth.
Therefore we shouldn't be judgemental; let the law take its own course and time.
When we fall in the trap of evil, Devil will use us for his purposes.
Nowadays it's become very difficult for the survival of truth and righteous.
Unless priestly class, abandon the worldly desires of life, own their own free will, surrender themselves totally for the will of God, it's impossible to be with God and follow the mission of God in this world.

Sr. is seeking justice for the wrong doing against her by the powerful within the existing framework.
She is practicing her right. Hoping for she will be heard. It is easy to show power against powerless.

If she is right or wrong, or if he is right or wrong will be proved if there is witness.
If she is right or wrong, or if he is right or wrong will be proved one day if there is NO witness in this world.

These protesting nuns' only inside support (or prodding rather) came from the - now expired - priest Kuriakose.

And Kuriakose was in the race to be the bishop. But Kuriakose lost, and Mulakkal won the race instead!

So Kuriakose, who is from the same parish as Anupama, was pursuing with all his might for the downfall of Mulakkal.

So, in this real-life drama, all that is evident is politics. Nothing but politics. All wearing the religious garb.

With the death of Kuriakose, Anupama is lost.

No one has a right to condemn a person unless found/proved guilty by judge. As I understand the case is being handled by competent authority. Let people await the judgement before passing any remarks.

The nuns statement is that she was raped 13 times! It means she felt pain in 13th time? Why didn't she resist at the first attempt itself?

And according to her statements she visited the Guest House where the bishop was staying each of these 13 times.

    After 10 PM.

And she was no lowly nun. She was the Superior General - a position that has, in some respects, more power than the bishop!

I have never commented on any posts on Daijiworld. But I read regularly Daijiworld. I'm from Mangalore and I have a sibling who is a priest in a high place. I'm living in the USA for the last 30 years. I'm a faithful Catholic. We Catholics are supposed to follow Christ our Lord. Only our Lord is the ultimate judge. We Catholics should be praying for everyone including our enemies and forgiving them. Let us pray and let the Holy Spirit bring the truth out. The truth will set us free!
In the US so far Catholic church has paid 3 billion dollars for the crimes of the clergy in high places including the bishops and cardinals! The satan has entered the Catholic church to destroy from within. Only recently Pope Francis has removed a powerful cardinal from Washington DC for his sex crimes in past 30 years. Please google about clergy sex abuse in the US and read for yourself. Please pray that catholic church comes out of this crisis, and the Holy Spirit lead the church. Please pray for the truth to come out. God Bless You all!

The “me too “movement should spread among the clergy and devotees of the Catholic Church in India. People should come out in the open with their grievances. Unless this is done change will not happen.

Sr Anupama went overboard in not only unfairly running down Bishop Franco when the High Court was seized of the matter and the case was being investigated by a team of very senior officers of Kerala Police. Obviously, she and her team of sisters were propogating a greater narrative of some vested interests.

It is quite natural that the lay people who have controlled their resentment for long are now giving vent to their Anger on Sr Anupama and her team for dragging the Church into this avoidable controversy.

The faithful are waiting for action against these sisters who have taken Oath of Obidience and for indulging is such unwanted public posturing against the Church which is unpardonable.

It is not Sr.Anupama/other nuns it is the Bishop who brought disgrace to Catholic church. He is the one who has to be shunted out of bishophood. The public is just attacking the nuns because they are meek out of two parties.

On Shabarimala issue belongs to believers in the faith. Vested interests and narrow minded people are accusing BJP as anti-women on this. But in the nun rape case, in the same breath, they are openly taking anti-women stand and supporting accused Bishop. Beware, today the tiger is at the doorstep of neighbor. Do not enjoy it as it is a matter of moments for it to turn up at yours....!

Nuns and priests are highly educated. Especially nuns, who are generally employed in school/colleges run by convents, are revenue earners on which the convent depends. I don't think obedience is up-to the limit that your own life is at threat as it happened with the priest.

Common Sr. Anupama, I'm sure you are getting sufficient vibes from what is getting around you. When each educated member rebels, the order will understand where they wronged.

As per my understanding they are no more in their congregation. So we cant call them as sisters. They have left their institutions and creating non sense stories which has no evidence. As we know church has been attacked by the devil. So we need to pray to arch angels for the deliverance from these evil who always brings divisions where there is faith, love and hope.Let us not get discouraged instead we need to pray and remain strong in our faith.
