Tumakuru: Murder-accused tries to escape from police escorts - fired at, arrested

Tumakuru, Oct 30: A person identified as Mallesh alias Madhugiri Mallesh, accused in the murder case of Ravikumar alias Gadde Ravi, a former city corporator here, was arrested by the police from a bus stand in Andhra Pradesh. He was being led to Tumakuru via Madhugiri.

At around 1 am on Tuesday October 30, when the police and the accused were passing through Beladara, the accused said he had was feeling an urge to visit the toilet. When he was being led for the purpose, he suddenly tightened the leading chain fixed to his hands around the neck of head constable, Simon Victor, who was escorting him, and tried to flee by pushing him away. At that time, police inspector, Ramakrishnayya, and constables, Raghavvendra and Mohan, fired at the legs of the accused and took him into custody.

Injured Mallesh was admitted into Victoria Hospital Bengaluru for treatment. Head constable, Victor, who was suffering from severe neck pain, was admitted into the government hospital here for treatment.

Kyatsandra police inspector, Ramakrishnayya and other policemen had taken part in the operation.

    Irony is that the accused doesn't have to explain his attack, but the policeman does about why he made a fatal shot. Our policemen require more power than the criminals.

    They should have shot him at the left side of his chest and close the case. Anyway congratulations to the police team for their swift act. Fun is rowdy is in Victoria Hospital and Head constable, Victor is in Government hospital!

    Its only in US they fire without making a split second decision. here our law enforcement in my guess i don't know but what i have seen & heard is following scotland yard training. police often fire on legs i seen many times
