A teaser for 2019: Congress
The Congress party has tweeted that the Karnataka bypoll results are "just a teaser for what is in store for the BJP next year" when Lok Sabha elections will be held.
Former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah said he was confident of winning at least 20 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. "The Congress will be back in Karnataka. We [the coalition] will win minimum 20 seats in 2019. I camped in Ballari for four day. I saw the pulse of the people," he said.
KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao tweeted, "Sincere gratitude to all leaders and workers of Congress-JD (S) whose untiring efforts have led the victory of coalition candidates. Though Shivamogga is a disappointment, the narrow winning margin should sound the warning bells for BJP."
