    Point to be noted:-
"The thief gained entry into the house at around 9.30 pm and bolted the main door from front"
How did he gain entry ?
From back door, from roof or from front door it self ??
He took even pickle bottle and must have visited some country liquor sale point and tasted the pickle. First time in seventy years!

For some people life and life values become so cheap, by this act can conclude he raped the lady and take away the things as if the usual easy task act for him. Surprised to see some fun making comments, people are more interested in noting the chocolates and pickle bottles rather than, how a single lady went in trauma ! Seriously something wrong with humans these days !!!

    People,

By taking the mobile phone...thief made Police job of catching him very easy...I am sure thief is an idiot...
With his DNA with woman and her cell phone...if Police could not catch him within 24 hours...then Police are good for nothing...and should be appointed to catch Pergude...

You are totally Langoor.. DNA matching with what? Its not like developed countries where DNA disclose the full details of a person. A thief with such daring will roam around with women phone. He must have put it on a truck which may reached to other state by this time. Feeling bad for women.

DNS match with what???...with National Criminal's DNA Data Base & with with other unsolved cases with similar Modus operendi ....

Not Pokoda or Tea data base of Mangalore...Possibly matched with your data base..after finding IP address of your Cell Phone/PC...

That is, if he (1) switches on the phone, or (2) sells it to some second hand mobiles shop after throwing away the sim.

If he keeps it in the fridge along with the pickle bottles, the police will have a wild goose chase.

    Jen,

***IMEI is the DNA of a phone; all phones can be identified just with their IMEI.***

***Phone can't be traced when switched off. However, using the IMEI number as a tracking tool requires certain conditions be met. ... “The IMEI number is not affected by the SIM card, so it does not matter how many times the SIM card is changed, the phone itself can still be tracked,” ***

***Police have two methods for tracking your phone when it's stolen, they can use your phone number or your IMEI number. ... Because the IMEI number is registered to your specific handset the Police will be able to track the device itself, even if the SIM card has been changed***

Didn't I say IF he keeps the phone on ?

Probably he is smarter, never puts it on once he got our of her house. Kept buried it in the fridge along with the pickles.

No Indian Police, nor Interpol can trace him/it based on IMEI, or whatever !

    Lang,

IMEI(International Mobile Equipment Identity) is not the DNA of mobile phones. Mobile is man made device hence IMEI can be deleted and changed to new IMEI(from other china/brand phones).
