Three Hindu activists named in FIR for Bulandshahr violence

Bulandshahr, Dec 4 (IANS): Three leaders from the Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and BJP have been named in the FIR lodged by police in the violence that rocked Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh killing a police officer and a young man, authorities said on Tuesday.

VHP activist Upendra Raghav, BJP city youth wing President Shikhar Agarwal and Bajrang Dal district coordinator Yogesh Raj have been named in the First Information Report in the wake of the violence on Monday.

The police have also arrested two others - said to be villagers - while five persons have been detained in connection with the violence that broke out after the recovery of some animal carcasses that the right-wing groups claimed were of cows.

When Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh tried to reason with the demonstrators and persuade them to clear the traffic jam they had caused, he was attacked both with blunt objects and also fired at, killing him instantly.

A young man was also killed in violence but the circumstances leading to his death are not clear.

The police have registered a case against 88 persons, of whom 25 have been named.

Five police teams have been formed and 22 places have been raided to track down those involved in the violence.

The raids follow details emerging from eyewitness accounts, interrogation of those detained and video footage shot by people present at the time, a police official told IANS.

The police focus is on Chingrawathi and Mahav villages, located close to the crime scene. The police believe the mob came from these two places.

The body of the slain police officer was taken to his village in Etah district where family members broke down at seeing his mortal remains.

Singh is survived by his wife and two sons. His widow Sunita told relatives that her husband had sought leave but it was not granted. She rued that had the leave been granted, he would not have died.

The officer's elder son Shreya is studying MBA while his younger son Abhishek is a student of engineering.

In a damning indictment of the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, a senior minister from Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet has blamed Hindutva outfits such as Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the RSS for the Bulandshahr violence. Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar said that Monday’s violence was a blatant attempt to disturb the peace on the same as lakhs of Muslims gathered in Bulandshahr as part of their annual Ijtima or congregation.
Two persons including a policeman in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr were killed on Monday after right-wing protesters resorted to stone pelting over the presence of an alleged slaughterhouse in the area.
The officer killed has been identified as Subodh Kumar Singh, who was posted at Bulandshahr’s Syana police station. Singh was also the investigating officer of Md Akhlaq lynching case. He was instrumental in having all accused arrested in 2015.
Horrified by the gruesome murder of police inspector Subodh Kumar Singh in Bulandshahr, the Uttar Pradesh Police have booked as many as 27 individuals belonging to militant Hindutva outfits, Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Shiv Sena, and Hindu Yuva Vahini, an organisation floated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. They include Yogesh Raj, the Bajrang Dal district convenor. The individuals have been termed as the main conspirators and booked under section 302 and several other stringent sections of the IPC.
If it is true that Bajrang Dal vigilantes killed the policeman in Bulandshahr the RSS needs to do some serious introspection. This is one of its ugliest spawns.
A Cop is killed in broad daylight. It's a clear case of murder. Under the guise of 'Gau Raksha' these hot-blooded goons of Bajrang Dal are wreaking havoc. Who's to blame for giving them patronage?
This is Yogi's 'Ram Rajya' in UP.
This cold-blooded killing of an officer in duty proves United States government decision to tag Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad 'Terror organization' is right.

Accotding to Times of India, it is alleged that the Inspector S.K. Singh was a very sincere officer and he was investigating the Aklaq lynching case where he came up with sufficient evidence, when abruptly, the CM transferred him. A possibility of revenge angle for his killing is being investigated. ( TOI ).
