Exhibition captures Japan through lens of Indian shutterbugs

New Delhi, Dec 6 (IANS): Myriad facets of Japan from the scenery to traditional culture and advances in technology, as captured by Indian amateur shutterbugs as part of annual photography competition, are on view from Thursday here.

On display till December 14 at the India International Centre, the photographs are the result of the annual "Click! Japan Photo Contest" which introduces "beautiful photographs" taken by people who have visited Japan.

The contest was open to residents of India, who have stayed in Japan for any duration between July 2017 and June 2018, and took entries only by amateur (non-professional) photographers.

The results for the contest were announced in September by the Japanese Ambassador to India Kenji Hiramatsu, who had "emphasized the importance of promoting people-to-people exchange between Japan and India" in his remarks, the Japanese Embassy said.

Out of 400 entries, top 10 winning entries, including those by Amit K. Srivastava, Gauri Talwar, Puneet K. Singh, K. Bidyarani Devi, Puneet Sihag, Deepak Gandotra, Rekha Jain, Anil K. Sharma, Mithilesh K. Singh, and Shelly Airan, and other outstanding photographs, are featuring in the exhibition.

This year the contest was co-organised by the Embassy of Japan and Japan Foundation and supported by Canon India and Japan National Tourism Organization.
