Mangalore: Private Bus Owners Allegedly Threaten Nagarika Hitharaksana Vedike Leader

Mangalore, Dec 9: Transport minister R Ashok on Tuesday December 9 directed the police to arrest two private bus owners in the city for allegedly using abusive language and making threats to the life of at least one person, at Circuit House.
Raghuram Shetty and Manohar Shetty had allegedly abused and threatened Hanumantha Kamath, president, Nagarika Hitharaksana Vedike, as he was coming out of the Circuit House after submitting a memorandum to the minister demanding unchanged implementation of the initial decision to nationalize bus routes. The accused also threatened media persons who had been present at the time of the incident.
R Ashok directed the police to make the arrests after the incident was brought to his notice by media persons. Hanumantha Kamath has filed a complaint at the Kadri police station in this regard. Police have failed to provide information in this regard, despite several attempts.
The Minorities, Backwards and Dalits organization (AHINDA), has condemned the incident terming it uncivilized at a press meet at Hotel Woodlands on Tuesday December 9. Lolaksha, working president of the organization, said that it is a question of civil rights and the fight against such heinous acts will continue.
Urging the transport minister to nationalize all bus routes in the state, he said that they are thankful to him for directing the police to arrest the accused. P V Mohan, B A Mohammad Haneef, Vasudeva Boloor, and Dinesh Ulepady, were present at the press meet.
