Mangalore, Dec 11: A police team headed by Jayant V Shetty, deputy superintendent of police, Panambur, on Thursday December 11, arrested the second accused in the firing that occurred at a Kulur shipping company, some time ago.

The arrested person has been identified as Satish Bhandary (44), a resident of Maroor, in Moodbidri. Police sources informed that Bhandary had already been slapped with a sentence of four years in a murder and robbery case.

Associates of underworld don Ravi Poojary entered the office of World Wide Shipping, on October 20 and resorted to indiscriminate firing. They allegedly opened fire in an effort to threaten the owner of the shipping company for not paying extortion money to Poojary.

First, the police traced the identity of the car used in the crime and arrested a certain Nagesh Shetty alias Munna, on Friday December 5. Bhandary was arrested at city central railway station here on Thursday, based on the details revealed by Nagesh Shetty during interrogation.
