Bulandshahr violence 'political conspiracy', says Yogi

Lucknow, Dec 19 (IANS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said the mob violence in Bulandshahr on December 3 -- which left two including a police Inspector dead -- was a "well-hatched political conspiracy".

Talking to reporters at the state Assembly, the saffron-robed politician said the conspiracy was hatched by the political parties who have lost ground in the state.

"They are those people who have patronised spurious liquor makers which claimed innocent lives...they are those who are now embracing each other as they are losing the ground," he added.

The Chief Minister also pointed out that the conspiracy was hatched to tarnish the image of his government and to stoke communal passions in the garb of cow slaughter. "But an alert administration and government ensured that they do not succeed in their nefarious designs."

Wednesdays' comments of Adityanath are, however, in contrast to his earlier approach on the mob violence when at a media event in New Delhi some time back, he had termed the Bulandshahr violence an "accident".

Earlier, the second day of the winter session of the state Assembly was marred by protests from the opposition benches as they raised various issues they claimed had shown the failure of the BJP government.

The Chief Minister, however, maintained that the state government will always be dutiful in maintaining law and order in the state and work for development of the state and prosperity to its people.
