Unable to get ambulance, woman suffering labour pains reaches hospital in cattle tempo

Daijiworld Media Network – ‎Chitradurga (EP)

‎Chitradurga, Dec 22: A woman experiencing labour pains had to be taken to hospital in a tempo used for transporting sheep as the ambulance did not arrive even after two and a half hours of waiting.

The incident has happened in Marikanive, Hiriyur taluk in ‎Chitradurga. Lakshmamma, a resident of Marikanive experienced labour pains in the morning. Therefore, her parents took her to Madadakere health centre. But no doctors were available at the health centre. Therefore, the nurse at the centre suggested the parents of the pregnant woman to take her to the district hospital. However, no ambulance came even after waiting for more than two hours. The labour pains increased but they could not find a private vehicle either.

Lakshmamma had to be taken to the hospital at any cost. Therefore, they took her in a tempo transporting sheep. They had to take the alternate HD Pura route as the road on usual route was in a poor condition. The tempo was too small for the pregnant woman, her husband and three other women who were travelling together to the hospital, which was 35 kilometers away.

It is always same story.Better these people should prepare for such situations,by waiting till last minute for a vehicle, arrange some days before of due date, one week or so ,go and stay before in city or where a hospital nearby is.may be in a relatives house ,or a small hotel. This is very critical ,since hospital is 35miles away.I am sure even when you wait for a month too ambulance will not arrive in that remote area.who is the minister in that area?why no doctor is available in health centre.?taking money and sitting at home or gone on holidays.?
