Riyadh: Revolutionary step from Saudi regime - women allowed to dance alongside men

Daijiworld Media Network - Riyadh (MS)

Riyadh, Dec 23: On one end, the whole world community is up against Saudi Arabia for the murder of journalist Jamal Kashoggi, on the other, the country is slowly revolutionizing its stand with regards to its culture. For the first time in the history of Saudi Arabia, women were allowed to dance alongside men in a western musical programme.

The musical evening programme of French superstar David Guetta, sponsored by the government of the country, that was held a few days ago, witnessed this historical change in the approach of the regime of the Kingdom towards its culture.

Prince Mohammed Bin Salman had heralded the social revolution in the country a few months earlier by permitting women of the kingdom to drive the vehicles. A video, in which a woman had danced, in a private event, had created storm on social sites in the month of June, 2018. It was accused that this violates the code of conduct of a Muslim nation. However, now with the removal of such a restriction, the nation has kept a step ahead in its cultural progress.

It is also accused by some that this is a trick to pacify the anti-Saudi wave that has emerged after the murder of Jamal Kashoggi. It is also said that though the prince is revolutionizing the culture and social norms, any dissent against the royal family is being silenced brutally.

    Until now Saudi was the most strictest country in the world as far as social, political and religious freedom is concerned. The rules were so strict that if they slightly loose those rules, the whole world gets amazed to know that the Saudis are coming out of their shell. In fact driving by women is allowed everywhere in the Muslim World except Saudi and when they allowed their women to drive, not only Saudis but all of us got shocked. Now they are allowing their women to dance. I don’t think they are allowed to dance with strangers but with their husband or close family relatives. The UAE, Baharain, Lebanon & Egypt are much more liberal than Saudis and nobody is having discussion about them. Iran was the most liberal country during Shah’s time until the fanatics ousted him. The young king must have noticed that their men are going out to their neighboring and other countries to enjoy freedom, so he has now decided to liberate the country from the clutches of mullahas. What’s wrong in it? When something is allowed to use, it is your choice to use it or not. You are accountable for your good and bad deeds. I know some fanatics don’t agree with me, but it’s their problem.

    Sure SA is allowing at present to dance in open with music.The crown prince is not doing it simply so with a plan to bring in money when their sources are drying slowly.so they want someone comes in bring money invest ,and so bring up their country.when they continue further as they did till now ,people are leaving country with no hopes,fearing rules .so he is become bit broad minded,and to polish his image too.One has to wait and see whats next.be ready for scene.Afterall it cant go on as ages before.

    In india we still have people praying cows.
    Saudi has been supplying fuel to these dumb heads who still don't understand we are a third world country.
    India as a nation has a long way to go.
    Spiting & peeing in public is something out of which Indians are yet to come out of.
    Saudi Arabia is one of the richest and very much civilised nation already.

    Money doesn't make civilized. India is a nation which is civilized in many forms and due its population size it is hard to any nation to manage the poverty. India is a birth place of diverse cultures where everyone can freely practice and believe per their choice which is called civilization of modern world. Money of pumping gas and selling to the world is not civilization. Civilized society offer freedom to all citizens. Dictatorship or isolation is not makes a civilized nation. Don't compare India to such nations where India is very rich with its generousity towards its population. Be proud of being in India and indian

    His fate will gonna end soon. Do you think this blody spoilt brat can rule like Paroah (Firaun) of Egypt and the Arabs will keep quite to see Islam values of morality and modesty is trying to be demonised in the name of gender equality. He will soon meet the same fate of Paroah sooner or later by his own people.

    Saudi Arabia is a big chupa rustom.. All 420 activities like drugs., alcohol and prostitution are rampant in the kingdom from time immemorial. The sheikhs and other rich oil barons of this country enjoy their life to the fullest. They are the biggest womanizers and casino players.
    The prince has done justice by relaxing the rules. But the new freedom will drive the girls of Saudi crazy. As such some of them have shown what they can do if freedom is given to them.

    God Save Saudi. Your men made the women of other countries dance in front of your petro dollars. Now others will make your women dance to their tunes.

    Different set of rules are laid out for different countries. This is called partiality.

    If they are branding themselves to the world as a changing country, why are they semi transparent and semi opaque. They are having two sets of rules like two sides of a coin.

    Also your write up in the second paragraph states :

    " The prince has done justice by relaxing the rules."

    What sort of justice has he done? I am told (and these are genuine figures) that close to 2 lakh Indian people have been rendered unemployed by the new system in force and are returning back from Saudi - this alone in the month of December.

    Little wonder that such types of reporting DOESN'T make headlines.

    Electric cars will teach a lesson soon. They will dance front of Hindis and work as a house servant in Indiana houses drivers house maids. Trend will change and petrol will be obsolete. These losers kept all biased on religious ground . Send money to other nations to build big religious places but not allowed a single temple or church or gurudwar in their country. Do you know how painful it is. They need all freedom religious and evan welfare of other nations. But share none of theirs. It is so bad of corruption and biased mental attitudes. Have you seen any donations for other religious or faith done by these guys. Every thing is hara m for them. Evan freedom for ladies of it's own citizens.

    A great move in the right direction. What is wrong about a pair dancing in public. As long as the code of conduct is maintained one can consider this as a step in the right direction.

    Dubai and Bahrain are the fathers of all Middleeast countries in this matter. They have allowed gambling, alcohol, prostitution decades ago.
    In fact both countries thrive because of these things only.
    In Dubai it is a common site to see prostitues standing on road side after 6 pm soliciting men

    @Vijay,

    Don't you think that there should be a limit to any action? Be it related to either men or women?.

    Like , for example, men can wear vests (Baniyan) in house. But can a woman do the same in the name of equality?. Its upto the owner of the house to allow it or not. Its different thing that others may either oppose or praise it.

    Behind the four walls, infront of her husband she can wear Burka or Baniyan that doesnt matters, Dress which suits you and makes you comfortbale, People will have a bad eye even if you cover ur wholeself.
    Limit is drawn by ourselves not any maulana, or moral police, if our ladies want to drink they can, nobody can stop them but they must know thier limits and thats for men too....

    @Arjun,

    Dress is not merely worn to feel comfortable. It should also be decent to look. It should not make others feel un-comfortable also. Its other thing that a same dress may look decent or indecent to the person wearing it or to the other people who see that dress.

    You have wrong conception that whatever we do is forced by Maulana. Sometimes, even common people are better than Maulana. There are millions of religion practicing people, who practice their religion without being forced by Maulana. A Maulana can force only children of very young age and not the adults.
    Even the parents force their children (especially daughters) not to stay away from house in the late nights. But that is not called oppression. So allowing everything is not freedom; it may be surrendering yourselves to your desires.
