Mangaluru Dec 24: Karvali Utsav in Mangaluru always brings excitement to families especially children who look forward going to the fun and cultural extravaganza. But this time around, families coming with their children are disappointed as Karavali Utsav exhibition is not open for public even after being inaugurated on December 21.

Karavali Utsav exhibition at Karavali ground was inaugurated on December 21 in a grand function. It is obvious that people and children are more excited about Karavali Utsav and come in large numbers. Even after three days, the exhibition has not been properly been set up as construction work is still under process.

Karavali exhibition starts at 4 pm. At Karavali exhibition there are giant wheels and many more such games and stalls lined up but none of the works have been completed as all the stalls are at construction stage except three or four stalls. With Christmas vacations, people have come from other parts of the district and state only to be met with isappointment.

Speaking to Daijiworld, one of the visitors Prasad said, "I hail from Bengaluru and had come to Mangaluru to spend time. I came across this Karavali Utsav and entered here so that my two children can sit on giant wheel and play other games. But I had to go disappointed as nothing has been prepared yet. The work is still going on; stalls are empty so it’s totally disappointing.”

Speaking to Daijiworld one of the visitors Swathi said, "I had seen in newspaper that Karavali Utsav was inaugurated. I came with my parents and younger sister as it was Sunday. I went inside but nothing has opened yet and work is still going. So it is better to reveal the date when exhibition starts so that people can come that day without being disappointed.”

Speaking to Daijiworld, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath said, "Karavali Utsav was inaugurated on December 21, as I was in session, I could not attend the programme. I received lot of complaints that Karavali exhibition has not yet started. Even families with their small children who came to Karavali exhibition are left disappointed. Even the construction work in play area is still going on and it’s unfortunate. When the exhibition has not been arranged properly then why inaugurate the same? It is better to inform the correct date when the exhibition is open for public. When Karavali Utsav and exhibition was inaugurated its obvious that people will come to exhibition. District administration should have given proper information so that they won’t leave people disappointed.”

When asked about delay in Karavali Exhibition, Mayor Bhaskar Moily to Daijiworld, "MCC Commissioner has visited the place. They have assured to finish the work by tomorrow. So all facilities should work from tomorrow.”
