Kolar, Dec 26: In a gory accident that occurred on the outskirts of Bangarpet near here at 7.30 am on Wednesday, December 26, a bike rider was burnt alive when his bike got exploded after it collided with a private bus.

Neeraj (20), a resident of Vivekanand Nagar of Bangarpet is the unfortunate bike rider who lost his life in this tragic accident.

It is learnt that Neeraj and his friend were travelling on the road in the morning. A private bus which came from the opposite side collided with the bike. Due to the impact of the collision, the petrol tank of the bike caught fire and Neeraj was burnt alive within minutes.

The pillion on the bike escaped without any major injury. The Yamaha R 1 bike worth Rs 2.5 lac was totally gutted in the accident. Bangarpet police visited the spot and registered a case in this regard.

    I think its time that, just like air crash investigations, vehicle manufacturers also understand their roles and investigate the cause of such fires and use technology to avert such fires causing damage to life and property.

    This incident reminds me of a similar accident I witnessed last July when I was in India. I was coming from Murdeshwar, two youths riding a bike near Ottinene, Kundapura hit a pickup truck in high speed from behind and burnt alive.

    I dont think the rider was riding too fast, if that is the case, he should have thrown away from the bike. What a tragic death, RIP.

    Then it also means that bus was not travelling fast..
    (PS- I am not pointing out if it's the bike ride or bus drivers mistake. I don't know . )

    what a tragic accident... but I just can digest the fact that somebody can get stuck so badly tied up with the bike after the accident and get burnt alive... OMG. yes, it shouldn't be so tough to burn off the fire. any ways... a life lost...

    Soo Sad! At least Blanketing with a thin cloth could save the life. Picture showing people are busy in shooting and no one cares to extinguish the fire. I can remember ,
    In UAE 6 month back, a arab women covered a Indian driver with her abhaya, while he was burning.. She saved him and left the place without notice.
