Udupi, Dec 27: Police on Wednesday, December 16, arrested in a swift action, the suspect of snatching a bag containing valuables from the hands of a woman walking alone in Manipal on December 25.
The bag was reportedly snatched when the woman was walking alone near Baliga block of KMC hospital in Manipal police station limits at night on December 25.
The suspect is identified as Mohammed Fahad(19), residing near St Francis School, Udyavar Melpete, Udupi. His accomplice is a minor boy.
The police have recovered from the suspects Apple Iphone-X worth Rs 80,000, vanity bag, Two ATM cards, driving licence and Rs 1,810 robbed from the victim and new Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 bike without number plate and helmets used for the robbery, all together worth Rs 2,25,000.
The arrests were made by DCIB inspector C Kiran, Manipal station inspector Sudarshan, DCIB unit’s ASI Ravichandra, staff Suresh K Chandra Shetty, Santhosh Kunder, Ramu Hegde, Raghavendra Uppunda, Shivananda, Rajkumar, Dayananda Prabhu, driver Raghavendra and Manipal station’s Umesh, Vishwajith and Bheemappa, under guidance from Udupi sub division assistant SP T R Jaishanker, additional SP Kumarachandra and SP Laxman Nimbargi.
