Udupi: Canute Mathias’ Live in Concert enthralls Konkani music lovers

Udupi, Dec 29: Canute Mathias, well-known as 'Sangeeth Kunwar', entertained the parishioners of Mukamar (Santhurkopla) Church and visitors from neighbouring parishes with a musical extravaganza on Christmas Eve, December 24, soon after the night Mass.

It started with five Christmas carols when the parish priest of Mukamar Church Fr Louis D'Sa lead the singing troupe with his melodious voice for the song 'Modhyanechin Voran'. Ramona Mathias and Ancy Mendonca sang 'Aanj Bodve Voyr Aanthralar', Nisha Fernandes sang 'Ut Ut Jerusalya' along with Joel Mathias, and Noel and Nancy D’Silva sang 'Sodvondhar Amka aaz Zalmala'. The hymns section concluded with the Konkani Version of Jingle Bells 'Vortho Dis Aaycho' by talented singers of Mukamar Church choir and other singers.



The songs’ section started with the song 'Yo Moga' from the new album 'Udevn Yevnchim Taram' by Wilona D'Almeida which was well appreciated by the crowd. It was followed by the song 'Daryachya Rever Boson Aastha' from the same album by Joy D'Almeida and Fremcy Mendonca.

The much-awaited new Konkani music album 'Udevn Yevnchim Taram' was released by founder of Daijiworld media group Walter Nandalike, Wilson Rodrigues, member of Udupi zilla panchayat, Baila Boom fame Maxim Periera Angelore along with the upcoming singers of the album, members of Lions Club Shirva Manchakal and members of Friends Club Pilar with the thundering beats of Nasik Dhol.

Walter Nandalike spoke on behalf of the other guests and congratulated Canute Mathias and the entire team of 'Udevn Yevnhim Taram' and assured his best support.

The musical entertainment continued when Baila Boom Fame Maxim Periera Angelore sang his hit song 'Manasa Manasa'.

Canute Mathias took on the stage and entertained the crowd with his voice singing 'Maka Tumche Lagin Mog Zala' and a shorter version of 'Mog Tuzo Kithlo Aashelon' and 'Suryo Budon Daryak Vetha' along with singer Carol Danthy as a tribute to the legend of Konkani music, 'Konkan Kogul' late Wilfy Rebimbus.

Young singer Ancy Mendonca sang 'Sonthosan Kaliz Umalla' from the newly released album and gifted singer of Mukamar parish Nisha Fernandes sang 'Bollywood Mashup amd Parda Parda'. Joy Almeida and Joel Mathias sang ‘Ami Dogi Sezara’ and later Canute Mathias entertained the crowd with various songs like 'Rani Mujigo Thun', 'Sandnyachi Raath' along with his daughter Ramona Mathias and 'Sondrem Udevn Aailo' along with singer Carol Danthy.

The musical extravaganza came to end when Canute Mathias sang remix version of 'Mogre Mogre' (remixed by Darrel Mascharenhas of USA).

Well known compere Franky Mendonca conducted the whole event to perfection along with well-known writer Anil D'Souza Pernal and Fr Louis D'Sa, parish priest of Mukamar Church.

Main sponsor of the event Robert D'Mello of Kelmbet Bola (presently residing in Shankarapura) was honoured for his generosity and support towards the entire event which was a basic step in aiding funds for the installation of CCTV cameras in Mukamar Church premises and two LED screens inside the church.

Canute Mathias was honoured for his initiative by Fr Louis D'sa, parish priest of Mukamar Church.

The event concluded when the final two prizes (Samsung Mobile Phones) were drawn. The winners were thrilled to receive the prizes. Parish priest Fr Louis D'sa thanked each and every one who worked hard to make the event a memorable one.
