Udupi: Dr Acharya Seeks Private Sector Support for Govnt Educational Institutions

Udupi, Dec 28: State home minister Dr V S Acharya, while saying that the present government has been laying added emphasis on imparting quality education, exhorted the private sector and individuals to extend their support towards the growth and development of the government-run educational institutions.

He was speaking after inaugurating the golden jubilee celebrations of Polipu government PU College and the zilla panchayat higher primary school near Kaup on the night of Friday December 26. He also announced, that he would provide two lac rupees for providing seating arrangement at the newly built library of the college, from the MLC development fund.


























Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon presided. Entrepreneur Dr B R Shetty, who was the chief guest and also happens to be the past student of the institution, inaugurated the library. Dr Sadanand Shetty, Capt Ganesh Karnik, Lalaji R Mendon, Kishore Kumar Kalatoor and Taranath Kotian inaugurated various departments. G Shankar of Shankar Family Trust released the souvenir brought out on the occasion.

Taluk panchayat member Jagadish Acharya, Udupi block development officer D Manjunathaiah and Kaup gram panchayat president Bhanumati Kanchan participated as guests. Office bearers of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations Committee were present.

Principal N V Shashidhar welcomed. Ravindra Kaup presented the programme. Ningaiah proposed vote of thanks.
