Mangalore: Studio-e-Akhter Art Gallery Inaugurated

Mangalore, Dec 29: A long-cherished dream of renowned dentist from the city Dr Akhter Hussain, who also happens to a fine artist and skilled photographer, came true with the inauguration of a well-equipped 'Studio-e-Akhter Art Gallery' at Attavar in the city on Sunday December 28.
Yeneopoya University vice-chancellor Abdulla Kunhi, Nitte University vice-chancellor N Vinay Hegde, Father Muller Medical College administrative officer Fr Dennis D' Sa, Prof Andani V G and several artistes from the undivided Dakshina Kannada district took part in the inaugural and extended their best wishes to the new project of Dr Akhter.
Dr Akhter said that the project envisages organizing of art shows, arranging interactions with well known artists and holding seminars on subjects of interest apart from taking up activities that would supplement the growth of the coastal artists, as its main aims.
There are also plans to hold sales of works of art and facilitating national and international markets for them, he revealed.
Apart from works of art created by Dr Akhter, who has won several awards and recognitions at the national and international levels, 25 more works created by veteran and upcoming talented artistes from the twin-districts are on display at the gallery at present.
