Udupi, Dec 29: Prasanna V Salian, an alumnus of St Mary’'s College, Shirva, has the distinction of being the lone Kannadiga to have cleared the Indian Economic Service (IES) examinations, conducted by Union Public Services Commission (UPSC), during 2007.
Around 7,500 candidates appeared for these examinations from across the country and Prasanna was one among 53 candidates selected for the final interview. He is the son of Vishwanath and Kumuda Salian of Shirva. He had also bagged the first rank and a gold medal in his M A.
Prasanna had also been selected for JRF in the Union Grants Commission (UGC) examinations. Presently, he is pursuing research in economics at Mysore University for his Ph D.
