Mangalore: Democracy Totally Absent in State—Poojary

Mangalore, Dec 29:
Senior Congress leader and former union minister B Janardhana Poojary on Monday December 29 said that democracy is totally absent in the state after Yeddyurappa took charge as chief minister.

Addressing media persons at the Press Club, he said that the BJP government had created terror among the people. Poojary alleged that it has failed to fulfill the assurances given in its election manifesto. “Free electricity to farmers and 10 lac houses for needy people were mentioned in the BJP’s election manifesto. But the state has been experiencing power cuts for past several months and not even 10 houses have been built during the past six months,” he ridiculed.

Poojary pointed out that the state is suffering from a shortage of 1,007 lac megawatts of electricity. Though sugar factories came forward to produce power at a cost of Rs 3.80 per unit, the government gave it to Reliance, which produces electricity at a cost of Rs 8.45 per unit. He also alleged that Yeddyurappa is sponsoring vandalism being carried out by Bajrang Dal and other saffron outfits.

Accusing the government of using suspect means of lobbying in the recent by-elections, Poojary said the election commission should be very careful in the state. “State has never experienced such a pathetic situation in its history. Yeddyurappa’s governance is the worst ever”, he added.

'Power' and 'electric power' were problems during every regime, promises and breaking of promises is the staple game of politicians including both BJPs Non-governance was hall mark of previous Congress Governments in Karnataka and BJP is trying to go one step above them in non-goernance!! People are getting fooled by both these BJPs!! But Finally, one thing I donot agree with honorable ex-minister, ex-MLA, ex-MP is that democracy is equivalent to electricity! Just because there is no electricity and some broken does not mean there is no democracy. That is hall-mark of Indian democracy!!
