Karkala: Birth Centenary Celebrations of Justice Hegde Attended by Many

Karklala, Dec 30: The Nitte rural development project is an ideal plan to empower the farmers in the neighbourhood as envisioned by late Justice K S Hegde, said chief minister B S Yeddyurappa on Monday December 29.
He was speaking at the birth centenary celebrations of Justice Hegde, held at Nitte College campus.
Justice Hegde never put his self-respect at stake, throughout his illustrious journey from his hometown to the highest position in the Supreme Court (SC). He returned to his hometown at the peak of his career, to contribute to its all round growth"
"People should draw inspiration from the life and achievements of late justice K.S. Hegde. He had brought dignity to every post he held, be it the judge of Supreme Court or the Speaker of Lok Sabha, said Yeddyurappa. L K Advani, who had close relations with Justice Hegde had hoped that he would be a probable choice for the post of President of India" he added.
Challenges can be effectively faced by educating the youth. Western culture is centered on the individual while Indian culture is family-centric. Hence, it gives one strength and courage to face challenges in a family, added Yeddyurappa.
He laid special emphasis on making Karnataka a model state where every citizen enjoys equality and security. Sri Vishweshateerta Swami of Puttige Math said that societal progress can be achieved by alleviating disease, ignorance, poverty, and misery.
State home minister Dr V S Acharya, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, MP Sadanand Gowda, Capt Prasanna Hegde, district-in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar, N R Shetty, and B Vishal Hegde were present on the dais.
Around 4,000 people from all over the country and abroad attended the programme.
Nitte Education Trust chairman and Nitte University vice-chancellor Vinay Hegde welcomed the gathering and expressed his commitment to realizing the dream of Justice Hegde in empowering the people of Nitte in every sphere.
Nitte Institute of Technology principal S Y Kulkarni proposed the vote of thanks.
