Mangalore: V Ponnuraj Replaces Maheshwar Rao as DK District DC

Mangalore, Jan 1: Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner (DC) M Maheshwar Rao has been transferred as the DC of Mandya district with immediate effect. V Ponnuraj, who has been functioning as the deputy secretary in the Personnel and Administrative Reforms department, has been posted in his place.

Mandya DC Chakravarthi Mohan, who was transferred all of a sudden last night in the backdrop of the case of election-related assault on ex-MP G Made Gowda, has been posted as the DC of Koppal district.

Assistant commissioner of Sirsi sub-division Vipul Bansal has been posted as the officer on special duty in the finance department. Likewise, Udupi additional superintendent of police M N Nagaraj has been transferred to Chickmagalur as the superintendent of police.

Through an order issued on the last day of 2008, the state government transferred five IAS and three IPS officers.

    Other side of the mountain is not always green. Mr. Ponnuraj issued prohibitory orders u/s144 and fenced over 600 acres for Nagarjuna Power Plant in Yellur with more than 100 families imprisoned inside and also cut and helped take away trees worth over 30 crores under police supervision. He also ordered demolishing of an ancient road to facilitate Nagarjuna. He humiliated anyone visiting him grievances and asked them bring court stay orders. Obviously he wouldn't have done it for free. People particularly those affected by SEZ definitely are into trouble with this man. He has all the tricks to throw them out of their lands.
