Dubai: Nine Groups Gear up for Daiji Dubai Talent Contest

Dubai, Jan 7: Daiji Dubai, the forum of Konkani writers in the UAE, is all set to organize yet another competition in the series of events which are scheduled this year as part of its Decennial Celebrations.
This time, it is a Talent Competition among nine groups from the UAE, which is scheduled to be held on Friday, January 30, 2009 at the Indian Consulate, Dubai.
The competition will be inaugurated at 9.45 am and at 10 am the Pamboorians, UAE the first group in the competition, will present the first performance of the day.
The lots for the event were picked on the 23rd of December, 2008 at the Winney's Restaurant, Karama, Dubai in the presence of Joseph Mathias, Merit Freight Systems LLC, Dubai which is one of the sponsors for the event, the other sponsor being Integrated Freight and Logistics LLC Dubai.
Representatives of all the participating groups along with the convener of the event Dayan D'Souza and founder member Melvyn Rodrigues were present.
The groups were briefed about the rules of the competition on the occasion. Each group will present a variety of performances like singing, dance, mimicry, skits etc for a maximum of 20 minutes. Each group should have a minimum of 8 members and the maximum number will be 10. The groups must have a minimum of three male or female members.
The event promises to be a day of non-stop entertainment.
Rony Byndoor and his team of singers will entertain the audience, in between the performances of two groups, whenever time is required for setting up of the stage.
Daiji Rangmandir will be performing some of the finest skits at the end of the day prior to the prize distribution ceremony, which will be held between 6 pm and 7 pm.
