Mangalore Jan 7: A teacher was  admitted into a private hospital in the  city with severe injuries, after he was allegedly attacked by some strangers near Merlapadavu in Neermarga on the morning of Wednesday January 7.

James Victor Minezes, a  teacher of St Legory's school in Merlapadavu is the teacher targetted by the said miscreants. He was on his way to school, when he  was attacked by four persons who came in two motor bikes, the teacher claims.

After finding their badly beaten up teacher lying on the road, the students of his school provided him  first aid before seeking medical aid.  James has filed a complaint with the  Kankanady police  station on the incident, and in response, the policemen  visited the hospital and  collected full  information about  the incident. He reportedly  informed the  police  that he would be able to identify the attackers, who had also taken part in the protest organized  in front of his school a week ago.

The protest was organised  by some activists who were protesting against the alleged distribution of Bible copies to the students of the school.

The injured  teacher, who is a  resident  of Adyarpadavu near here, is undergoing treatment in the Father mullers Hospital, Kakanady.

This is a kind of guerilla war or proxy war against other community. It looks like the police and the government has given the goons a free hand. Otherwise they wouldn’t have dared to touch a school teacher.

I am so sad to hear that these thugs have resurfaced again terrorising common people on religious grounds. I am sure that yeddis government will hush up things or grant immunity to these goondas when they are arrested. If this continues people who feel threatened may join other exteemist organisations to protect themselves from these thugs

By beating a teacher what these goondas wants to prove? If they dont like to read the Holy bible atleast they would have refered to their sacred book and acted on it.Infact it is the satan working against human being beating each other and killing each other.

Distributing the bible geeta or quran is not at all a sin but this goondagiri is the worst punishable sin...may be teacher will forgive them but the police and the judiciary cant do that. Punish them as a lesson to others.

Some fanatics think rowdism is the way to stop. They are nothing but tarnishing their own culture. Resentment by force is highly unacceptable and condemnable. Hope police will take action against culprits.

I am very sad after listening the news of attack on Mr.James Vivtor Menezes. The Teacher who is injured is working for past several years in St.Ligory's Hr.Pr.School.He was good teacher for all the students. But no complaints have been received so far about the alleged conversion activities. Certain elements in our society use unfounded gossips to destroy the peace, love and communal harmony in our society.

I think it is time, the christians changed their way of thinking, which has all along been, "If some one hits you on one cheek, show the other". This self control on the part of the christians has been taken to be a sign of weakness by these Miscreants and other self styled vigilante gangs. Let us not wait till something like the blood bath that happened in Mumbai, to happen to the christians in Mangalore. Since the law enforcement authorities do not have the means or the will to protect the minorities, we (we to mean like minded Hindus-Muslims and christians together) have to seriously, start thinking in terms of having a common security organisation, to counter these terror groups in Mangalore.

Some of our Indian brothers are insecure and weak with thier thoughts and thier beliefs and the religion they practice. Only they can harm the body of the person, next is what they harm themselves and thier own families and the country they live in.

What a shame to the country and to the karnataka Politics! The country is trying hard to fight against terrrorism which is a big threat to our democracy and here people are still fighting in the name of religion? Please tell those rascals to join the army and fight for the nation and show their power and not attack poor Christians for no cause.

"Dharme Vihitho Pashusamanam"- A person without Dharma is like a animal. Here the Dharma (what is Right or Wrong)is the people who hit a Teacher should have known what they are doing. The Noble profession of a teacher and its place in a Society."Saa Vidya Vimochana" - Education brings liberation, but when Niraksharuhi Manthri-Uneducated has become Minister.forget education even people will not get a glass of water. These words are from our Hindu culture. The Ignorance of meaning of a word(Conversion)has brought curse to Mangalore and our Indian society. Unless the spark is rectified soon it will burn the house. Not too late district and state administrators get back to basics, stop this local Taliban, before it is too late, otherwise it will consume you like it is doing in a neighbouring country.Time is tooooo little.

Just when situiation is coming back to normalcy after all the communal riots we have had, yet another such incident is not what we want now. I personally feel Catholic Schools might have to be careful when we do such things. While we do know n understand that you have not meant to distribute Bibles to non catholic students, why give opportunities to people to act n react in these manners? Dont we have catechism Classes in churches where we can do that, why do it in schools? Even if you do it in schools, why give Bibles to non catholic students & now face the brunt of such miscreants?? We know few sects of society are just waiting to assault us & attack us for any silly reason, in such times, I think, we should be more careful & think when we act. It's so unfortunate that innocent teacher is now the victim of these unwanted elements of society? It's unfortunate that these people who behave so in society are of no good use to anybody. They can not do any good to anybody, but they will not allow others to do any good either.. Lets be watchful & careful, that's what I feel

Is distributing any religious books is an offence? Bible preaches good values and injects morale as any other religious books do. Who are these miscreants after this attack. Why the government and police are not taking any action to prevent such incidents.???????

Do not be worried dear teacher James your reward is there. You are assaulted by the evil possessed people who are zealous of Christians. I pray to our Lord Jesus to console to comfort and to recover soon. The evil is not as big as our Lord Jesus. May our Lord Jesus shower rains of blessing upon you and your family.

I don’t understand why people feel so insecure ?! Conversion is not possible if one distribute Quran / Ramayana / Bible to the people. Only deep study and understanding is required, moreover, Right path is for those who seeks.
