Mangalore: Youth Murdered by Miscreants, Katipalla Tense

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jan 10: Two motor bike-born youths named Shamsher and Rahmat  were attacked by unknown miscreants  with lethal weapons in the afternoon on Saturday January 10 at Katipalla, near Surathkal, Mangalore. The assailants reportedly came in a Maruti Zen car and the bike-borne youth were caught unawares. One of the youth, Shamsheer,  died on the spot while Rehamath was admitted into a private hospital in Suratkal with grievous injuries.

Reportedly, the vehicle used by the attackers has been traced. The assaulters fled from the scene after attacking the two. Reason for the attack is yet to be ascertained. Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner V Ponnuraj, speaking to Daijiworld expressed the opinion that the murder may be retaliatory in nature, connected with the murder of a youth in the region in the past. It is an isolated case and not in any way related to the past communal clashes, he opined.

Katipalla turned tense in the backdrop of the incident and roads wore a deserted look. A gang of local youngsters protesting against the incident, pelted stones and damaged five shops, a few bikes and buses. They also tried to attack the journalists who visited the place to cover the event.

Senior police and district adminsitration officials have rushed to the spot to control  law and order situation.  More details are yet to come in.

Dr. Kiran Acharya, I agree with your suggestion on "preventing provocative comments". But letting the administration do its job is not the best solution because the administration has lost touch with people and can never find solutions to communal hatred. Solution has to be people's initiative and can never be a bureaucratic initiative.

Hello Readers, Daiji is always an open door for every community people. That's why we could see the genuine report each day. Some of well known 'Kannada daily' news papers are hiding the truth and always in favor of particular community and its associates.

Daiji is also protected and protecting human rights and they well known and very much matured in their profession. Daiji is the reason for spreading the true news& peace in the society. I will never agree if some one trying to teach Daiji on this matter.

Daijiworld is doing a commendable job in getting the news as it is. People are sensible enough to understand the truth, the culprits and the motives. Hiding news items like this actually helps people who wish to do an eyewash, rather than taking corrective course of action.

Somebody has committed the murder and the mob is distroying  private property of their own neighbour or from same area.  Why ? . We all give lectures that we are peace loving people and in reality we try to create more enimies for ourselves by showing our power. Is this right or just ????

Dr. Kiran Acharya, I agree with your comments. The editor of Daijiworld needs to take up the social responsibility of preventing provocative comments. Keeping calm, and letting the administration do its job is the best solution, rather than adding fuel to the fire.

Looks like mangalore never learns from previous experiences. One should not jump into conclusion and start making irresponsible/ provocative comments, especially after events like this. It will only add to the problems. Keeping calm, and letting the administration do its job is the best solution, rather than adding fuel to the fire. I urge the editor of Daijiworld to take up the responsiblity of preventing provocative comments, thus showing the social responsiblity of a responsible website.

Really a very sad news. The boy murdered was a very innocent boy. The murderers had no reasons to kill him, n that makes it really sadening. Being from the same place, i have not even seen that boy, such a sort of shyish guy he is. He is not a sort of a guy who mingles with everyone or has any gang n all. His badluck asked him to take take a lift from the other guy. All finished for him n my heart felt condolence to his mother who lost her husband recently. I hope peace will prevail in katipalla n nearby places n people live n respect each other n their feelings.

Do the miscreants own the damaged bus? Law of the land is in the hands of miscreants. They rule the city and no doubt the state. Otherwise few would have been arrested. Why good hearted people need to vote? Few people who can impact on minister is fine for us. Ethics and humanity thrrow into garbage. Good luck to police and miscreants.

This is not at all a good sign for a peace loving society. We should know the value of the human lives. People should learn to live with peace and tolerance. The Government, Police Dept., District Administration and the NGOs have to arrange the Trust Building Programs/events and measures among various communities i.e. Hindus, Muslims, Christians and various other sects. Hatred is a loss for all the communities. Love, trust, peace and harmony are the basic requirement to build peaceful society. We should know to love all the human beings irrecspective of Caste or creed. May we wish the the Karnataka State Govt., The Mangalore Dist Administration, Police Dept. and the Various NGOs in Mangalore will work hard to avoid the mistrust and the hatred amoung various communities in our region? There should be a unity among various communities and this will contribute a lot in the developmental works in our region. May Almighty guid all the communities in Mangalore and in Dakshina Kannada District to work unitedly together irrespective of caste or creed in building a peaceful society in our district and in our State.
