Bangalore, Jan 12: Punit Rajkumar and Umashree have bagged the best actor and best actress State awards, respectively, for the year 2007-08.
Punit bagged the award for his performance in Milana and Umashree won the award for her role in Gulabi Talkies, which was also declared the best film of the year. Moggina Jade and Mathad Mathad Mallige were adjudged the second and third best films, respectively.

The awards selection committee headed by film director Kesari Haravu on Sunday presented its recommendations to Information Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu. Later, the minister announced the list of awards to the media. Senior film producer Parvathamma Rajkumar has been selected for the life- time achievement award. Director Renuka Sharma and actor Vishnuvardhan bagged the Puttanna Kanagal and Dr Rajkumar awards, respectively.
The minister said 46 entries were before the committee, which watched all the movies except Ee Bandhana whose print was not made available. Meanwhile, Agni Sridhar, who won an award for his dialogues in Aa Dinagalu and K Manju, producer of Mathad Mathad Mallige, rejected the honours.

Haravu said originality in film-making, concern for society in the story and making the best use of talent were taken into account while finalising the awards.
He said no entry under the best children’s film category was up to the mark.
Ekalavya, directed by Baragur Ramachandrappa, was selected for the award as it was fairly better than other entries.The producer of the first best film gets a cash award of Rs 1 lakh and 50 gm gold, while the director receives Rs 1 lakh in cash and a gold medal.
The director and producer of the second best film will each get Rs 75,000 in cash besides a silver medal (100 gm).
The director and the producer of the third best movie will each get Rs 50,000 in cash and silver medal (100 gm).
The Puttanna Kanagal award, Dr Rajkumar award and life-time achievement award each carry Rs 2 lakh in cash and a gold medal.
