Abu Dhabi, Jan 28: The Anivaasi Kannadigara Okkoota, Abu Dhabi conducted a free medical check-up programme on January 28 on the occasion of 70th Indian Republic Day celebration in co-ordination with Universal Hospital, Abu Dhabi.
People from different Indian states were present at the occasion and took advantage of the Free Medical Check-up Programme as part of the drive for spreading greater awareness about the importance of health & environment.
The programme was inaugurated by Mohammad Naseer, Mangaluru, vice president, Anivaasi Kannadigara Okkoota. He congratulated all fellow Indians on the eve of 70th Republic Day.
Shabeer Nellikode, founder & MD, Universal Hospital, was the chief of the event and Abdulla Madumoole, CA, BWF general secretary, Dr George Koshy (CMO, Universal Hospital Abu Dhabi, Dr Chandra, (Director of L&D), Dr Sunil Kumar (Risk Management Manager) Samiulla Mohammed Habibi CA, were guests of this event, who delivered the message of Republic Day to non-residents of India.
Anivaasi Kannadigara Okkoota, president, Janab Abdul Rasheed chaired the programme and welcomed the gathering and guests. In his presidential speech, he urged everyone to continue their good work for the nation as well as for the Indian community in UAE. Abdulla Madumoole, in his guest speech said, "This is an occasion to commemorate the values of our democracy and Republic. This is an occasion to reaffirm our commitment to liberty, fraternity and equality across our society and among all our citizens. And above all, this is an occasion to celebrate India and the spirit of being Indian. He appreciated Anivaasi Kannadigara Okkoota’s for their selfless social services and he conveyed his thanks to the team and wished that their efforts would continue in the coming days.
Okkoota executive member Siraj Hameed delivered the Republic Day message. He said, "India was formed based on the concept 'unity in diversity' and it becomes every Indian's responsibility to safeguard it. He expressed concern over growing insecurities and lack of unity in the nation. He urged participants to uphold our democratic and constitutional valuesfor better tomorrow.
Dr Riyas Mather (Specialist, Internal Medicine), Dr Sakshi and Dr Raghunath Prabhu (General & Laparoscopic Surgery) were gave presentation about healthy living. They explained the benefits of physical activity & healthy life style and explained how regular physical activity is one of the most important things for one’s health and how it reduce risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes syndrome.
Services such as blood pressure check-up, blood sugar check-up, HCV test (Hepatitis C Virus), prescribed medicines, laboratory tests and discounted dental services and Body Mass Index Check-up were offered, it said.
As a token of appreciation for their presence mementoes were hand over to the chief guests. After the stage program guests and organizing committee members along with Hospital Management and Doctors visited inpatients wished them for speedy recovery and hand over them flower bouquets.
The event was coordinated by Mohammad Siraj, he expressed his gratitude to the UAE government for a safe and healthy environment to live and he appreciated the participants and the Management, Doctors and staff of Universal Hospital, Abu Dhabi for their wholehearted support.
Hundreds of expatriates participated during the occasion. The executive members of Anivaasi Kannadigara Okkoota, Abu Dhabi and disciplined volunteers helped to make the event a grand success.
