Mangalore: Ghastly Road Accident : Two Die on the spot, Another Succumbs in Hospital

Mangalore, Jan 16: In a terrible accident that occurred near Gurpur at around 9 am on Friday January 16, two motor-bike borne youngsters lost their lives while a pedestrian succumbed to injuries later in hospital.
A truck moving towards Mangalore and a motor bike going towards Kaikamba were involved in the accident. Both the persons killed in the accident on the spot were on the motor bike. A pedestrian who was critically injured in the accident, died later in a hospital.
Reportedly, the lorry was rashly driven and the driver swerved to the right while trying to avoid a pot hole and hit the motor bike. The deceased have been identified as Bharath(45) from Adarsh Nagar, Karmar in the city and Quasim(37) from Sirahatti Dharwad who was working here since 13 years, both employees of Dinesh Timbers, which has factories in Sooralpady and Yeyyadi. Reportedly, both of them were proceeding to their work place as Bharath drove the bike. On the way, they met Umesh, a worker of the same firm and were talking with him when tragedy struck.
Umesh (45) from Moodushedde was shifted to Tejaswini Hospital in the city but died later. Bharath is survived by wife and two children while Umesh is survived by wife and three children. While families of Bharath and Umesh have come to claim their bodies, Qasim's family is yet to arrive in the city.
Traffic on state highway 13 was thrown out of gear for some time due to the accident. The Bajpe police rushed to the spot and cleared the road. The police conducted inquest and registered a case.
The truck driver fled from the scene immediately after the accident, the police said.
