Udupi: Uroos at Belapu Darga Draws Thousands of Devotees

Udupi, Jan 16: Thousands of faithful from Mangalore, Shimoga, Kasargod, and Maharashtra, attended the Uroos held at Rehman Shah Baba Darga, Belapu, near here on Thursday January 15.
As a specialty of the Uroos vegetarian food unlike elsewhere across the coastal district, was served to all the devotees on Thursday.
A traditional ‘Qawwali’ and other music performances were staged till the early hours of Friday.
Many residents of Belapu gathered at the Darga for the night-long traditional musical extravaganza. The annual gathering also promotes communal harmony and brotherhood among the diverse cultures and faith.
It’s a tradition that a crew from Shimoga Darga exclusively performs Uroos at this Darga assisted by the religious men of the local Darga.
The Belapu Darga is situated in a picturesque setting inspiring spirituality among the devotees that throng here. Over 10,000 devotees attended the Uroos on Thursday.
