Not possible to ban liquor sale all of a sudden, says CM Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru, Jan 30: Chief minister Kumaraswamy said that it is not possible to ban alcohol all of a sudden.

Kumaraswamy was responding to the query with regards to the protest that is being staged in the city demanding the total ban of sale of liquor in the state. He further said, "We only had banned the sale of cheap liquor (Saarayi). However, we will discuss the pros and cons of complete ban on alcohol during the cabinet meeting. We will take suitable decision after discussing the same with ministers and concerned officials."

Thousands of women had started foot march from Chitradurga on January 19, demanding the banning of alcohol in the state. These people have reached the city on Tuesday, January 29, after walking for ten days. The women spent the night in bitter cold on Malleshwaram Grounds in the city. They are planning to block the Vidhana Soudha building. However, the police are making arrangements to stop near the Freedom Park itself.

    Pray for some sanity in our leaders. Drinking is a personal choice. I don't understand why anyone whether it is women or men have any objection as long as the person fulfill his duties and does not cause any nuisance to others.

    if you are going to listen 1000 women to ban liquor you have to listen 10,00,000 man who doesnt want ban on liquor in karnataka, we dont let karnataka to become Gujrat or UP look at these two states where liqour is banned. the condition of these two states are pathetic.

    Karnataka is one of the most lovely state because here liquor is available.

    there are some 5% critics about liqour that govt can ignore you cannot make happy 100% population of state.

    First create a "what is card" Second link Aadhaar to it. Third if that man has a farm loan collect 50 rs per bottle there. In a year all farm loan will be cleared...

    Liquor ban is like cutting nose if fly sits on it!
    Its same like beef ban! Liquor is one of major incomes to state and Central.
    Banning liquor means economic collapse and rise of huge crimes, murders, spurious spirit, corruption and bootlegging!! Consumers belong to all religions and this is very few places we see unity among religions!!

    Agree with Mr Alwyn comment - also liquor is one part of revenue to Government.

    Till we have any alternative option which can generate same revenue it looks difficult to stop by any government ,instead should stop providing new licence to open liquor shop.

    Kumaraswamy is right in this case.
    Good things:
    LESS INUMAN PARTIES AFTER WORK.
    LOOK MA, NO BEER BELLY.
    BAR OWNERS WILL GET CREATIVE WITH THEIR DRINK OPTIONS.

    Bad things:
    LOSS OF INCOME FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES.
    MORE DRUNK DRIVERS AT RESIDENTIAL AREAS.
    MORE FOUR-HOUR “LUNCH MEETINGS”.

    The most dangerous banning liquor is any state will lead to having locally made alcohol. By consuming this many will die. Think before the act.

    Best option all the wine stores should be government control. One bottle of 1-liter hard liquor per person/6 bottles beer/2bottles of one-liter wine.

    Good decision by Kumaraswamy. Complete Liquor ban will deprive the people of their right to entertainment especially those who drink responsibly and over the weekends. Control the sale of liquor. Complete Liquor ban will give rise to brewing of country lliquor.

    It is not advisable to ban liquor, the reason behind is, the moment liquor is banned people start brewing illegal country liquor which is harmful to health and this would result in untimely death poor consumers.
