Mumbai, Jan 17: Fiat India launched its long-awaited midsize three-box car ‘Linea’ on Wednesday January 14. The car will be available at a showroom price of Rs. 6.17 lac in the metro. Linea is the first in a new line of international models that Fiat is planning to bring in.
‘The company is also considering making India a manufacturing and export hub for components and cars,’ said Fiat International chief operations officer Silverio Bonfiglioli.
‘Other parts of the world are considerably worse-off than India. In such a situation, we think India is well-placed to be a manufacturing and export hub for us,’ Bonfiglioli added.
Fiat has set up a manufacturing and assembly line for engines and cars at Ranjangaon, near Pune.
The company has also outlined a roadmap for procuring plastic and metal parts from Indian suppliers, said Bonfiglioli replying to queries at the launch of Linea.
Linea which is Fiat’s second launch in a year will be available in three variants, two option packs and three colours in both petrol and diesel versions, said Fiat India Automobiles chief executive officer Rajeev Kapoor.
Colorful fashion show was orghanised to mark the lauch of LINIA. Rons Bantwal of Daijiworld captured some glamarous moments.
In those good old days only three brands of cars were available in India (landmaster , ambassador- fiat), driving a fiat car was a great pleasure. It is a good idea that the Fiat company restart a market for fiat cars in India because it has a great name and history in India. Good luck.
Your comment is correct Mr FRancis . Fiat should reduce the spare cost and market the products , Better service to the customer .. Side mirror of Fiat Palio stile cost 3500=00 which is very expencive comparing any other small cars . When comapny is giving good cars.. why they cut the spare cost better service . Today carbyers are only bothered about the serviece. Duing this recession time Fiat as launched new car,Two more months to Financial year end lets wait and watch
Nice photos...I think it's new kind of method of launching new cars in the market...Great idea to attract the crowd for the function...
This to me looks more like a fashion show than a launch of a new vehicle. It would have made sense if more pics and features of the car were in the news than these photos of glamorous girls.
ya that's a fantabulous ceremony...
