Mumbai, Jan 20:
The third annual festivities at Sri Shanta Durgadevi temple, Motilal Nagar, Goregaon (West), were held recently under the leadership of managing trustee Shyam S Salian. Temple chief priest Kallanje Radhakrishna Bhat officiated.

Sri Niranjan Swami of Sathrasta Sri Sunkadakatte Ambika Annapoorneshwari temple, also graced the occasion and offered ‘Maha Puja’ to Goddess Sri Shanta Durgadevi.

Sri Niranjan Swami in his message to the gathering of devotees, said that the graces of Sri Shantadevi are essential for the people across the nation to lead life in liberty as none wants terrorism on Indian soil. Although evil mongers in the society wreak havoc on life, a majority of Indians want to lead a peaceful life, he said.

Mutual trust and brotherhood is the key to peace, said the Swamiji. Mumbaikars are known for this and live harmoniously irrespective of religion, language, and region, he said.

Pujas and ‘bhajans’ were organized as part of the annual festivities. Local MLA Subash Desai, corporators Dilip Shinde, and Sameer Desai were also present on the occasion.

The idol of the Goddess was taken in a colourful procession and a cultural programme was also held.
